Mario Balotelli

"In that interview with Noel Gallagher, Mario was asked if he thinks he'll be the best player in the world and I cringed because he'll never be the best player in the world. His decision making can be poor, his balance is terrible, his passing is erratic, his effort levels can be questionable and his attitude can be unacceptable"

All the failings you listed can be corrected, they relate to technique and mental strength, not ability. whether these failings will be corrected is a matter for debate, but I would suggest that the indicators are good.
There is no doubt Mancini sees greatness in Balotelli and his frustration stems from Balotelli's inability to "harness" (direct and control) his great skill.
I can think of no better man than Mancini to mentor Balotelli and the indicators are that Ballotelli is beginning to realise it.

One game doesn't make him the best player in the world.

Oi pal !!! If it works for Rooney then it works for Balotelli. ;)

Totally agree.
Pretty sure he went to Barca at the same time Shearer went to Newcastle. That's when he caught my eye. Phenomenal player and as you say, if Balotelli is just half as good we will have an out and out superstar on our hands.

Can you still gurantee us that he'll be at an average italian club in 5 years time?

Do you think he's talented yet?

Or still think 'he's shit'?

I don't know whether to feel sorry for you or flattered that you went to that trouble. Well done though, and it's not the first time you've done this.

Balotelli has a lot to do before he deserves the status many have given him already, that;s my opinion and I know i'm not alone in that. Performances like last night highlight what he can do, and if he does that more and more then i'll gladly relax my views on him. We all know though that with every performance like last night, there is a little 'what will he do next' niggling away in the background. Last night he looked like all he wanted to do was show his talent, and if he does that more and more well all the better for us and him.

I've made my mind up by the way. I feel flattered.

I am pleased that the 5 minutes spent on my dinner hour flattered you so much, but if you're so flattered you should probably be kind enough to answer the 3 questions that I asked

5 minutes? You're good, obviously had alot of practice digging up quotes. I imagine you did it very excitedly, wide-eyed and your tongue sticking out ever so slightly as you concentrated.

As for answering your obviously well thought out questions.

1. Unlikely
2. Yes
3. Not so much now, though not as good as some make out... yet.

Next time I change my mind on something shall I run it by you first?

I love him, possibly more than anyother City player since Bell.

But i think we have to be cautious with him, he is still a kid and he will still make mistakes, be petulant, have shite games etc. Yet what we witnessed last night was a glimpse of his real potential, an insight into maybe in 3 or 4 years time will be a truly great footballer.

He won't be here in 3 or 4 years time which is why it sticks in my throat a little when people talk about what he might develop into. He needs to knuckle down and deliver for us consistently next season and live up to the hype he himself creates.

As for the gushing man love he illicites from supporters - I was like that when he first joined - sadly having seen first hand the good and the bad Balo - I don't feel that way. I would love nothing more than for him to do well for us because it means the team will do well, but beyond that the likes of Aguero, Yaya, Kompany, Hart, Silva, even Zaba, I see much more as City through and through. Mario by his own admission will be here as long as Mancini's here ... but that's it.

With Mancini gone I dont think any of us would want Balo tbh....If you know what I mean.

I wish it was quite as excitable as that, been a dull day in the office this

No need. I'll probably have a couple of minutes to spare and as long as the search facility is there I'll have it covered

I'm sure you will.

It's amazing that people think using the search function effectively is somehow time consuming.

In fact, now I think about it:

1. Click on profile button.
2. Click on find all posts by this user.
3. Type search term and press enter.

Presuming instant page load (*cough*) this must take..what? 7 or 8 seconds?

Click on a page. Forum automatically takes you to the post. Read relevant bit. Copy and paste link.

Depending on the size of the post, that takes *perhaps* 15 seconds as the bits you are interested in are already highlighted.

All in all, it takes around 30 seconds to do.

If you are taking the piss out of somehow for having 30 out of a possible 86,400 seconds available in a day then you should probably also wonder how a man this busy can accumulate nearly 17,000 posts on an internet forum at an average of 15 posts per day.

You can't let it stick in your throat Billy, if you look at it that way you'll feel the same about Aguero, it's likely he wont be here in 3/4 years time?

Enjoy the talent whilst it wears the shirt and take the positives.......Balo was offered the door by Mancini after that Arsenal display and he didn't take it.

Hopefully that was the wake up call he needed and next season we'll see him flourish into the player we ALL know he can be.

-- Fri Jun 29, 2012 1:51 pm --

I've just wasted some search time reading that........tut!

I don't quite know what to say to that. I suppose a 'cool' will have to do.
Cool.
