he may well play others in on occasions, im merely stating that drogba in my opinion is a more out and out striker, rather than a target man.

A lot of people are judging him on the Euros where he dropped a major bollock.

He is however, a top class signing. I would love him here. Just because he isn't a huge superstar name. His record is very good.

vincent, yes of course players can have an off game, but this guy couldn't trap a bag of cement. His movement was poor, no aggression, easily pushed off the ball, no pace and as a supposed target man, he couldn't head the ball. It's all about opinions of course, just going off what i saw there and would be amazed if we or bayern munich signed him.

I agree with both of you! ;)

Drogba's strength is when he's facing goal....not with his back to it.

Gomez is like Jo....good (prob better) in air,big (tall) bloke....but his weakness is not using his strength to hold ball up.

Pretty obvious imo that we need someone whos strengths are the weaker parts of the above twos game............so again imo it's bloody obvious why Hughes wants Santa Cruz!

Have a look at Chelsea's formation under Mourinho...it worked so well because Drogba was used as a target man to hold the ball up and bring Robben, Lampard etc into play. The thing with Drogba is he is just that good that he isnt JUST a target man, and is also a 20 goal a season striker which i assume is what you mean.

As for Gomez....he's been quality since he broke through at 18...he had a very bad Euro's, which was what one month? One bad month in 5 years - i'd take him happily.

And he's better than RSC.

A forum is all about opinions etc.....i believe if Gomez signed for us, it would only take a couple of games and everyone would be saying we've bought a 'Clone of Jo'.
I may be in a minority but i said when we bought Benji...he was shite and it was a panic buy and only ONE person agreed with me,and (unfortunately,as i want us to do well!) im just as (un)convinced about Gomez.

I think Gomez will be perfect for us. And that's without ever even seeing him play. Imagine how good he could be if we actually saw him play?
