Yeah that's go down the easy route and chuck him out already oh dear thank GOD you are not the manager.

Well said Lee, you've got a talent for cutting through the bullshit.
For a guy who is "well-respected" on bluemoon what an embarrassing thread...

i am 100% behind Mario

There seems to be a lot of people missing the point ( unless I am? )

To me the question being posed is could Mario progress further and quick than he can here due to the fact he gets hounded on and off the pitch in the UK?

Its nowt to do with backing him or not.

So my hypothetical analysis of him is moot?

Most people on this thread also disagree with your opinion, do they not get it also?

No they don't, clearly.

The post isn't about the analysis of Mario as a player, his qualities etc. The op is even caveated to acknowledge my own personal appreciation for him.

It's about never being able to counter his reputation going before him, and how it will affect both City and him in the future.

Hence, throwing the question out about what should we do, including a hypothesis of an acutal sale.

In posters' rush to defend Mario, all very commendable and expected, the thread quickly moved away from the original premise/argument.

It's your argument, but you have left it open to an awful lot of interpretation

By the way, why are you talking about yourself in the third person...? :)

Not that the third person was intentional, ha ha!

Well, simply put, I initiated the thread, and as a result, the topic of debate has become more about how ridiculous it was for me to even impart a hypothesis.

I can't legislate for posters who allow their rush to defend Mario get in the way of properly discussing the actual debate being put forward.

To recap, you remarked this was the most ridiculous thread ever seen on Blue Moon, which I don't believe the OP left it open to different interpretation.

Blues are hurting, turning on each other, seeing things which aren't even there. Feeling persecuted.

The premise of my original argument remains pertinent - Mario can't win and will continue to be an easy target, regardless of continuing to improve his own attitude.

It leaves City with an ongoing dilemma.

First, I would genuinely hate to lose what Mario brings us on the pitch. He is an exceptional talent. Even accepting that this comes at a price, IMO it is a price worth paying.

That has always been the case of course...the madness comes as part of the package. But the price is getting higher, not lower, and therein lies the rub. And Tolm makes an extrememly valid point...his reputation now has upped that price even further.

Marios biggest problem is he's not english, had that incident on Sunday been Gareth Barry, I don't think we'd have heard much about it.

I don't agree that it's that simple. Mario has a reputation which he partly deserves. He has at times behaved like a petulant arsehole on the field of play. His "antics", as funny as they may see, draw attention to him. HE draws attention to himself constantly. He's a one off and as such, yes, he gets special attention. But he courts it.

Nobody has mentioned this - but he spat in the direction of the ref during the Liverpool cup match the other week. It was disgusting, unnecessary, and on another day he could've been done for that too.

I can understand the desire to defend him because he's a blue - but lets not pretend that he's some persecuted misunderstood innocent. He isn't.

I never thought of Mario as a 'long term' member of the squad, always figured we would get 2 maybe 3 years tops.

Couldnt be more happy for him to stay as things stand though, I would hate him to be perceived as running away or the club be perceived as taking the easy way out. Once the lad matures he will be a world beater, but theres no denying he has some maturing to do.

The big problem as I see it is that we are not seeing significant improvement. He is not showing an ability to learn or improve. When he joined he was a young player with an attitude problem which needed solving. He's still a young player but his attitude problem is still there. A point comes where you have to decide that the negatives are not going away. He gets that many cards and suspensions that, as it stands, he is ultimately a liability.

Last chance saloon, get rid in summer if there is any repeat.

i think he`s improve in every department.

and using this criteria would you if you were the rags sell wayne rooney

He hasn't improved in the discipline deparment, which is what I'm talking about.

i disagree i think he has. occasionally it`s 2 steps forward and one back, but imo he`s still improving both his temper and in his play and he is 21.

rooney on the other hand is 26 and still has moments of madness.

instead of all this witch-hunt which some of our own fans seem to want to join in. would it not be better to have faith in the manager to do the right thing.

or is that a crazy idea.

He's 21. He will learn, and is doing so

The Adrian Durham of Bluemoon ay

I might be open to criticism for not being remotely arsed to read any of this thread - just posting to add my opinion to what (I assume) must be the over-whelming view of CITY fans that this is a spectacularly stupid thread totally missing the opinion of fans

And to start a stupid thread at a stupid time can (IMO) only be attention seeking - wonder if the OP is someone that also moans (rightly) about the press bias - they do not need to get at CITY when we have our own fans doing it

and- so what who cares if hes an easy target, it doesnt really matter as long as hes playing well and scoring, which hes doing. why should it affect us ?????????????

Funny. Inter fans were having this same exact conversation.

Now, they deeply regret letting him go.

As said he is 21 so far from the finished article. If we decide to just get rid of any players we have targeted by the media/ opposition then we may as well get rid of them all one at a time.

If Balotelli was sold another would take his place in the Man City fireing line. The mecdia want to unsettle us, the country do not want a new established top club upsetting the apple cart that isn't from London.

Using your logic and doing exactly what the media/ rest of the Sky 4 want Adam Johnson should start every game. Everybody except City fans think hes the English Messi who doesn't play enough football because of big bad Mancini when in truth hes only good of the bench.

DanBurge (i think it was) made a great post in the agenda thread yesterday. In time when the media and the rest of the country accept we are here for good the witch hunts will gradually disapear. Rooney kicked out at a Newcastle player at the swamp earlier in the season and nobody highlighted this, its exactly what Mario did but because of the media Mario is made to look worse.

Sell him? No! more like back him until the latest fad turns up (hopefully QPR spend a few hundred million).

Absolutely not!!!!!!!!!

Why should we give in to this media which hunt over Balo!

I said before he even arrived at our club that he would be a huge target for re's, the media and opposition fans and so it has proved to be.

Our country is a disgrace and I for one am ashamed of the attitude we show towards other nations in general...especially that that is directed by our media who are a fucking joke and scum of the earth.

Balo is a very young and talented player who is getting a veryt raw deal that is undeserved. ...the comments by Graham Poll show this

As a club we need to say fuck off to everyone else not connected to our club, circle the wagons and adopt a huge siege mentality.

stop giving the press interviews at all unless they are directed by our club

After we have to take this ban the club should release a statement abuot how they strongly disagree witht he ban. They should also do an interview with balo and release it where he gets to put his side of the story accross

As a sportman myself (and in particular a footballer but I playmost sports) I can almost say without question that he didnt mean to do it,.....whereas lescott did....if you are use to analysing movemnt of people then it is clear to see.

This witch hunt is a disgrace and i for one hope our club use every resource and possible route to take some kind of action/set up some kind of defence for Balo and our club in general

what really grates on me is that the same FA petitioned to have rooney's cowardly assault on a player in the international match reduced...and they won!

how is this a fair playing filed...it isnt. The media and managers like redkanpp are getting away with murder. Balotelli should do redknapp for deformation of charachter...all from a man who is as guilty of tax fraud YET the British media still want him as the man to lead our nartional team.....WHAT A JOKE!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT GIVE INTO THESE PRICKS!!!!!!!

Although i absolutely love Mario, he is a massive liability. Both me and my dad have said this since day one. HE IS AWESOME, i dont want to see him go but something needs to be done to make him chill out from the stupid shit he does... I have his name printed on the back of my shirt and i am proud of it, but again, something needs to get sorted with him. CTID.

I wouldn't expect either you to have understood the actual thread.

Between you, over 25,000 posts.

Do the irony!

Anyone care to hazard a guess at how many games he's missed due to injury or suspension since he joined...?

For me that's what this is going to boil down to. Mario is what he is - there's little chance of him having some life changing epiphany and change his attitude. The club need to decide if the pros outweigh the cons. ie. can we keep him fit suspension free for long enough to make a big impact on a season.

Right now it's difficult to for me to call. I love him as a player and agree he has the potential to be the best. But I also think he did stamp on Parker, and regardless of whether he meant to do it or not, to every neutral football observer on the planet bar one or two, it looked for all the world like it was deliberate. He's let Mancini down massively, and as much as he has the backing of nearly every Blue around (me included) he has let us down as well.

Personally I don't think he'll get sold this summer simply because nobody in Italy can afford his transfer fee never mind his wages. However, with Carlos on his way out, and Dzeko being nothing but consistently inconsistent - we need another forward player this summer. Without question...

Billyshears...you honestly suprise and shock me with this.

I thought you had more balls and fight in you.......

Why the fuck should we give into the media and FA wankers.

He is our player....fuck everyone else!!!!!
