Mario, time to say goodbye?

The saying "cut your nose off to spite your face" jumps out at me for a lot of the rational of the OP.
There are many examples of bad boys coming good and to be honest, I don't even really consider Mario a particular bad boy.
Historically it's clear that the FA are fickle and have there agenda's that they run for a time until the new headline shows up and they move on. I would be bitterly disappointed if City moved Mario on for anything perceived as persecution, rather than get behind and support one of our own.

you know you cheered just like the rest of us when he scored two at the swamp..

He didnt act like a fucking idiot at the swamp. I expect City players to be professional in EVERY match, not just when it suits him.

But he did act like an idiot he got a silly yellow card for his "why always me" top..one more yellow and he'd have been off..

And I'd expect you to stick by City players all the time...not just when it suits you..

Arsenal should sell van persie then – he lifted his top up after scoring on sunday

By that logic I should stick up for Carlos Tevez? Or just the ones that suit me?

i think its absolutly vital we stand our ground here and back our boy, we and he are being bullied out of pissing this league.
what do we do when they start on our next big name signing? sell him now and we have just rubber stamped(no pun intended)their wishes.

fuck em city. mario is ours and he's fucking staying that way.

we need to get cavani either way :)

Backing him for stamping on someone, resulting in us missing him for 4 games?

You're getting it.....

but I see it more like the City fans on this thread who see his positives, his talent as a footballer, the games he's won for us (including the Spurs game) and supporting a human being through a media vilification.
If he'd not done it, there would be nothing for the media to report. It's not like they've invented something just to go for Mario is it? He's provided them with something to go for and as stated by others earlier, if this was Rooney having stamped on Silva's head, for example, there would have been an outcry immediately.

Whether he intended to do it or not is arguable...

But what is certain is his amazing talent; he is not just potential, he is delivering.

The media are after him.

Is there a place where he can call home and be protected and supported?

Yes....it's called Manchester City. Isn't it?

C'mon THD, PH and MC....this is what support is all about.

Seriously? Engage your brain.

It's a debate about the pros and cons, not how fucking old he is.

For the record, the flip side of the argument is that there are plenty of 21 year-old's who don't have a trigger switch.

Bury your head in the sand, but people are born a certain way. Mario can play 20 games on the trot and score 20 goals.

Means jack shit the next time he lets himself down. How about a Champions League Final or a derby?

Did Gerrard not look a liability when he was getting sent off left right and centre as a 21 year old?

I think you are the one that should 'engage your brain' and stop believing the propaganda aimed at him.

You don't get it, do you?

It's a hypothetical thread about what is best for not just us, but Mario also.

A myth has been perpetuated, to a degree, and can be reflected in the unwarranted yellow cards.

All the same, propoganda is bullshit. He's kicked someone in the fucking head and has let himself and the team town AGAIN.

Regadless of intend, he has previous for it, and that's proved his undoing this time.

His reputation, forged to a large degree by himself, is the reason he has become an easy target.

Difference is, I think the lad will never be able to realise it in this country.

It's gone too far.

That may have been your intention but it is certainly not what this thread has become.

Absolutely not - this kid is one of the biggest talents in football. FFS he has oddles more natural ability than c*ntona, he got banned for several months but those fuckers stuck with him, and tbh look what they gained from it. Mario is basically a good lad with some issues BUT for sure the west brom and liverpool red cards were not deserved, a lot of his yellow cards are not deserved (look at some of the fouls van der fart and scot parker got away with on Sunday) and the retrospective red card on sunday makes a dangerous assumption that he meant it - something which the country's supposed best ref saw from 5 yards away. Why sell him to say AC Milan for a fraction of his true value just because the media and the fa are a load of shit heads? Bobby will work with him, nurture him, and make him a true City legend. And by the way most of the media had started to like Mario after the fireworks incident, he WILL get them onside again, with US and not with AC Milan or Napoli. We need to continue to support this kid, BIG TIME

This is the type of thread we laugh at on Ragcafe.

Tomorrow's headlines: "CITY FANS WANT MARIO GONE!"

Let's keep giving them ammo shall we?

Are you seriously bothered what redcafe says...do you think East Enders is real life?

Van Persie springs to mind here, consistancy thats what we are asking for, can you imagine if Mario scored at the emirates and ran past the Arse fans with a v sign
