Mario, time to say goodbye?

Unfortunately he is a liability and I would swap him tomorrow. Every time he plays I fear the worst and most times my fears are well founded. How many more times is he going to let us down by doing something completely stupid and uncalled for? Balo will never change in my opinion. As Souness said, he is a car-crash waiting to happen every time he sets foot on the pitch.

He is a liability... Without him we'd be 9 points off.. Get a fucking grip, you sound like an idiot.

Take the intent out of the kick against Parker.

Someone care to enlighten how Mario continues to go out on to the field of play and avoid being pre-judged, on past rep?

He can't. Which will only continue to hurt the team.

As I said in a previous post. We highlight this as much as possible. The media by its very nature will always turn opinion on its axis and look for other viewpoints. There is currently a media frenzy so we should use it to our advantage – tell the footballing nation that we feel Mario is being victimised for tackles/incidents that other players have got away with. Put it out there while the iron is hot. That way people will be looking for any inconsistencies and persecution of balotelli – and in my opinion referees will think much more carefully about whether an incident involving balotelli actually justifies a card because they know the nation will be watching.
Give him a boll*cking behind the scenes by all means but in public we back him to the hilt

If it sounds like one, it probably is one.

Keep him - he is getting better. He is starting to work a bit harder. He is creating a legend and he is enhancing our profile. People in america who last year had only heard of the rags now have heard about City and this crazy Mario guy.

It will be a bumpy ride but he's Mario, he's ours, we are making him and he is helping us go global.

Did Gerrard not look a liability when he was getting sent off left right and centre as a 21 year old?

I think you are the one that should 'engage your brain' and stop believing the propaganda aimed at him.

You don't get it, do you?

It's a hypothetical thread about what is best for not just us, but Mario also.

A myth has been perpetuated, to a degree, and can be reflected in the unwarranted yellow cards.

All the same, propoganda is bullshit. He's kicked someone in the fucking head and has let himself and the team down AGAIN.

Regadless of intent, he had previous for it, and that's proved his undoing this time.

His reputation, forged to a large degree by himself, is the reason he has become an easy target.

Difference is, sadly, I think the lad will never be able to realise it in this country.

It's gone too far.

So my hypothetical analysis of him is moot?

Most people on this thread also disagree with your opinion, do they not get it also?

No they don't, clearly.

The post isn't about the analysis of Mario as a player, his qualities etc. The op is even caveated to acknowledge my own personal appreciation for him.

It's about never being able to counter his reputation going before him, and how it will affect both City and him in the future.

Hence, throwing the question out about what should we do, including a hypothesis of an acutal sale.

In posters' rush to defend Mario, all very commendable and expected, the thread quickly moved away from the original premise/argument.

By that logic I should stick up for Carlos Tevez? Or just the ones that suit me?

Tevez is a grown man and a **** to boot...Mario is Mario Good days and bad days...

Tell that to the people who slaughtered Savic the other day...not quite as fashionable as Mario?
Apples and oranges.

With tempers flaring since Sunday you should have never expected it to unfold in any other manner tbh.

The big problem as I see it is that we are not seeing significant improvement. He is not showing an ability to learn or improve. When he joined he was a young player with an attitude problem which needed solving. He's still a young player but his attitude problem is still there. A point comes where you have to decide that the negatives are not going away. He gets that many cards and suspensions that, as it stands, he is ultimately a liability.

Last chance saloon, get rid in summer if there is any repeat.

Yes but for all the wrong reasons!

You can't just give the media what they want every time there is a frenzy. After Mario, what or who would be next? At some point we have to stop being nice guys with the press, and take some action to bring some balance. Even if he did stamp with intent, he isn't the first. The more excessive reporting should be tackled. Anyone ever thought that the press are thinking more and more bad press and the AD guys will say enough is enough and it isn't worth it? Wouldn't they just love that.

This thread is like a tale of 2 Cities.

The scouses sticking with the recalcitrant cheat 'Suarez' and us wanting to ship out our enigmatic Super Mario at the slightest whiff of heat.
