There have been more Fall books than Harry Potter. I read one about 5 years ago by one of the ex-members (can’t remember which one but not Simon Wolstencroft) which was really superb. I was a massive Fall fan in the 80s but it can’t be understated what a massive twat MES was.

She was born in West Houghton, Bolton. Tries to depict herself as some sage on all things Mancunian. She’s exactly the sort of person mark Smith would detest. She should be nowhere near any book on The Fall.

The one where the author tracks down every member who played on a recording or a gig. Great effort indeed. Brix's book was very good too.

I have got that but haven't read it yet. Ditto the Brix book.

Must put that right soon.

The one that most seem to rate (myself included) is Steve Hanley and Olivia Piekarski's The Big Midweek: Life Inside the Fall.

Hip Priest by Simon Ford is also very good but out of print and expensive to acquire.

I was disappointed by Renegade, Smith's autobiography, though. It reminded me rather too much of the ramblings on a park bench mutterer.
