Marseille (a) post match thread

He must be dreading a good performance from us then. I expect most of the journos on tomorrows pods will either say they didn't watch us because we are boring, or they were totally gripped with the exciting game at Anfield, where injury plagued Liverpool got a courageous win.
Without Saint Virgil as well - what a team !

Tbh, I wouldn’t say it was great. It was good enough and that was all we needed it to be.

Lots of positives, especially with the centre back pairing of Dias and Laporte and the increasing influence of Foden on this team.

The only negative for me is that we are still far to content to play backwards or square passes rather than move it fonward at pace. The last goal is the perfect illustration of what happens when we play quickly.

The 3rd goal is the end result of keeping the ball at the back and passing around our RB and RCB position for a while to get their left side out of shape.

Back and square passes are essential in peps tactics to pull the opposition around

Good win. We are a bit powderpuff up front without a striker but the defence was solid and we played with purpose and closed down well. We are much better for me when Mahrez doesn’t play as he doesn’t put the yards in
