Martin Demichelis (continued)

Excellent today and has been for some time, you can see his quality now he has settled.

Couldn't agree more. A hit and miss start but now he's settled he's just going from strength to strength.

Demichelis >>>>>kompany.

Today proved it.

Haha...disagree with this. Kompany is an outstanding defender and in the top 3 centre halves in the World.
He wasn't fit today so to judge them both on one performance isn't fair.

Your lack of judgement is influenced by the media. You can go back as far as Barca and beyond, Demechelis has been superior. Plays the offside trap better, is more decisive and doesn't berate his teammates. Vinnie maybe the better human specimen but MDM is a better defender which has shown in at least the last half a dozen games. People are influenced by fuckwits in the media, such as Jamie Redknapp, they may look the part but they talk absolute bollocks. You, my friend, are influenced too easily. Watch the game and form your own opinions.

Wasn't it a few months ago Pellegrini was getting roasted for having a 'blind spot' for Demichelis. I think now we are starting to see what Pellegrini sees in him, which to be honest I was perplexed as to what Pellegrini actually saw in him. Hats off to to him he's done exceptionally well last few games, I must say his ability to read the game despite his physical inferiority to Kompany does highlight the weaknesses in Kompany's game.

Mdm is a legend,he gives his all every game,he may not be the fastest around but his understanding of the game is world class and has a great personality and work ethic

Let's not get carried away here.
Not at this club but in general, he has had a fantastic career

Good game today, and has no problems when the game is played in front of him. Passing and reading of the game v good too. BUT lacks pace. And he also lacks pace.

MP is right as he will be when we lift the prem trophy.
MDM has played really well recently - all defenders make mistakes and sadly they can be costly as Vinnie will know.
But take look at our mistakes in front of goal and today we missed acrucial few

So are you saying he may lack a bit of pace?

hahaha...I've probably watched more live European football than most on here, my friend.

I don't listen to the pundits as they talk bollocks and do form my own opinion thanks.

So if you were to choose one you would pick MDM over Kompany? I highly doubt this my friend.

You should be a TV pundit, my friend ;)

I've been one of his worst critics but you can't argue with what he's done in the last 3-4 games .... he's been quality

Our best defender for weeks now.

I'd say this is true as far back as Hull away.

Extremely valuable member of the squad. I will be very disappointed if he isn't back next year. Obviously was never intended to be the first-choice CB in that slot, but really brings a lot to us. I am glad to see that a lot of the fanbase seems to be coming around as to this opinion.

Obviously I want to see us pick up Mangala (or Lovren, who I think would be great in that spot.) But I do hope MDM is first deputy next year.

Fair play to City Watch on twatter for being a very vocal defender of MDM when things were at their worst here.

Another MotM performance. The man was a sole figure that played to his limits yesterday with Silva a clear second. MDM made not a single mistake, in poor contrast to Kompany.

This is so true, but unfortunately we can not build a team round him in defence can we?

I think we still need another central defender.

Thought he played well again last night, and while we'll definitely need to invest in a long-term partner for Kompany in the summer, it would be rash to sell Demichelis. He's come to terms with playing in England and has been consistently solid of late. If we have Kompany/Nastasic/Rekik/Mangala(maybe) next season, we'll need someone with more experience to step in when our captain is out.

i see no reason to get rid of him, he's better than a few we've got and with the departure of Lescott, Richards and Nastasic struggling to be ever fit or in form, he would be handy to have in the squad. but we need to aim high in defence this summer.
