I really hate to say it but MDM would never have been in that position if Kompany had not dove in. He is amazing and made a choice, a wrong one in this case and left the other cb isolated against the best player in the world who was also in on goal. He should never gave slid. Try to cut down the angle and let the keeper make the save, that's what you learn from a young age as a defender. Messi still may have scored but we would be on a full squad still and only one goal down. He almost got the ball in his defense.

In summary MDM is a good defender, but we need another Kompany, as does every club in the world.

I take fundamental issue with what you've written - every other club needs two Kompanys

Is one based in the Caymen Islands?

I could tell you the answer, but then I'd have to kill you

;o)

This, all day long, well put

Seconded, unfortunately people simply repeat verbatim what they read or hear in the papers and the TV. The pundits revel in the power they perceive they have in influencing public opinion. Sadly in many cases they do. The anti DM movement within blues ranks started after MOTD decided to do a very selective review of MDM against Fulham. Having actually been at the game it bore no resemblance to his overall performance.

Similarly, people seem to have quickly forgotten the outstanding performances of Nastasic last season that went largely unmentioned by the media. Contrast that with the fawning coverage of Januzaj.

Nastasic in my view is our long term centre back alongside Vinny.

Agreed, against Fulham he put in a great performance but MOTD decided to find his few mistakes and show them all together then claim what a liability he was. They could have done the same for Kompany but because it's 'cool' or whatever to think Demichellis is shit they did it for him.

Because when he dived in & missed the ball at thehalfway line, it left us fucking stranded, just like when he jogged off towards the halfway line v Barca, without looking to see where Komany AND LIONEL MESSI were, it left us stranded again.

People who have done that job for a living, & won titles doing it, are trying to educate others so they can have an understanding of what defenders are actually supposed to do, in various situations.

It appears many just prefer to remain clueless because of a liking for a particular player, rather than take it on board.

The criticisms of Demichelis are completely justified. He has made a lot of mistakes which have directly & indirectly led to goals. Most people who watch football can see it. We have our own version of the Flat Earth Society who can't.

Shhhhh........

If we don't blame MDM we would have to look at why Vinny went screaming forwards then screaming back without looking at where the other three were and where Messi was!

Even if he was good enough to be picked earlier in his career it doesn't mean isn't shit now though, does it? Rio Ferdinand used to be an elite defender and now he's a joke.

(Demichelis isn't shit by the way, but he isn't great by any means neither!).

No of course not... but for me, he is technically the 2nd in line after Vinnie... for certain games it would be Lescott... and for certain games it would be Nasty.. when fit!

Mustn't have watched them for about 7 years then, think back to when Robben knocked the scum out of the CL the year Inter beat them in the final.

wondering why the scapegoat has not had any comments about sunday... you all call him when hes bad but at least have the balls to praise him when he plays well. PS...some nuggets even suggested sunderlands first goal was his fault, not vinnys, haha

Hmmm did Vinnie make a mistake coz he was doing Demichelis job??

Where was he for the sunderland goal? Completey lost for pace and was in no mans land once Kompany was beaten!!!

Do you really think he did well and that Lescott would not have been better?

Did he actually win a header???
