Distribution, in the main, was excellent

You will always get a few moaners in the crowd slating him for 3 stray passes, but they forget how many good passes he did, in particular the build up to the 1st

Exactly. He was the defender that looked to play the pass that split the lines rather than just playing it along the back 4.

Not a game on which to assess a defender. He doesn't look fazed, and given his experience nor should he, but he needs games against stronger opposition before we can judge his worth to the squad.

Personally, I wouldn't want to be sharing a dressing room with a man with hair like that.

Possibly the worst haircut in the PL. He's in Manchester now, not Liverpool or the 1980s.

It doesn't look the best when playing football but off the pitch it really is a delightful mane.

A few moaners? It's hardly a crime to point out that over 90 minutes he mislaid 5 passes, all under no pressure and all in areas where had there been some quality it could have cost us.
I think he's a great defender who wins the ball very impressively and has a calmness about him that others can learn from.
But I'm sorry, his distribution wasn't excellent at all. It was mixed at best.

It really is and his wife doesn't seem to mind it

He looked OK today but it was not really a good opposition
Err no he wasn't he passed the ball straight back to the opposition out of defence on no less than seven occasions . We will get punished by better opposition if he carries on doing that, so he'd better cut it out.

correct.it was seven.six passes and one header.those stats under no pressure are utter shocking.some empty heads on here really do believe he played well.i despair.

Fair do's. Off the pitch he looks like a hunk and/or Jesus.

On the pitch though he looks like a scouser or someone from 1985.

Agreed he put those passes wrong.. and those mistakes would be more severely punished by better opposition, but let's not get too bipolar about this

I also saw him doing some good work today at the back, interceptions, tackles to break up play etc etc...

Let's get a bit pf perspective here

He only misplaced the passes because he was taking risks against a piss poor opposition by trying to move the ball forwards quickly. No way would he have tried them if we were playing a better team.

Yeah, right.

I dont know what you expect from him on his 2nd match in a new country, with new teamates and coming back from a significant injury,he is going to be rusty but i feel much better with him there whist vinnie is out

Thought he was our worst player, defended quite well, made a few good tackles, just his passing was woeful at times. Think it was more trying too hard than anything else. He'll relax into it, not worried. watched him last year at Malaga and he was class.
