Probably now wishes he had a release clause in his Fulham contract if a bigger job arised

I also suspect that MON struggles a bit with maths. 40m loss is not covered by 24m for Milner, or by saving Milner's 3m a year. sign Ireland for another 3m a year, keane 4m a year, and you're still making a monumental loss next year.
