He seems to have been arrrested about 1500 on Sunday so it comes up to 48 hours in custody in just a couple of hours or so. That seems a long time to investigate the allegations of assault and rape.
Is more coming out with regard to offences committed against the young woman or is there more to it? 48 hours on custody seems a lot.
There seems to be a lot of hand washing by his club, sponsors and fellow players as if they knew more was going on.
Only guessing like everyone else.

I think they first turned up at his house in Bowdon before lunchtime but also went to his property in Sale, where his parents were.

The girl is certainly assisting the police, as they have already said she is getting support from their victim unit.

I'm sure someone on here can say if the police can ask for a further extension.

you see all the above are just not 100% proof its him ? did greenwood do the damage to the lady and proving it is another matter ? also the audio could be made to sound worst with editing and cutting. look is very said that a crime has happen to the young lady. rape and GBH by a man on a woman or on anybody is criminal and they should be locked up for a long time.
If it wasn't him on the recording I suspect he/his agent/the club would have made a statement refuting the claims soon after it hit the public domain. The fact they didn't speaks volumes.

They probably won't have. Regardless of outcome, the images and audio are enough for sponsors to pull the trigger and protect themselves without thinking twice.
I think that even if the most serious charges can't be proven, nobody will want their company associated with someone who speaks to another human being in that manner.

I suspect 48 hours will probably when they make their decision to either charge him or release him pending further enquiries given that it's not murder/manslaughter we are talking about.

have we all sat on the panel at the social media court and come to a verdict yet ?

by no means am i defending the crime or the person in question but let the right people do their jobs.
the CPS and the police will work together and a case will be built and deemed good enough to take to court.
its not our job to be judge by social media ? because the trust in that would be foolish at best.

this thread should be locked until all the facts have come out and gone to court ? pretty much like the mendy case
I've been saying just this for some time now. I note that the Independent is carrying a piece today which makes clear the risks of people continuing to post opinions on the case on social media platforms.

It will be very simple for the police. They will have asked him the question if it is his voice on the recording?

Greenwood has a dilemma whichever way he responds.

Greenwood was said to be in trouble last year over some inappropriate behaviour, which never came to light.

The latest incident has people asking if they might be related and what knowledge his club might have had, if any?

That Reddit post doing the rounds form last year saying he had 'domestic' issues that the papers were sitting on suggest that the club knew. If the papers do then the club will.

He also suggested they were sitting on stories about a Liverpool player but thats still quiet.

Lets face it most clubs will try to keep this stuff under wraps due to the value of players, especially if its a 'big' player

I don't know how they can expect anything else though. Everyone was offering their opinions on Harvey Weinstein once his behaviour was made public.

Papers were not sitting on anything. Nothing could be established at the time. It was certainly a busy weekend of trying to get to the bottom of rumours on social media and people ringing in with tips.

United either killed it at source or it was just rumours that took on a life of their own.

Just leave this here:

I guess it depends what his lawyer has instructed him to say.

If he says no and voice analysis proves otherwise, he's fucked.

If he says yes, he's fucked.

If he refuses to answer, he's fucked.

A lawyer will surely instruct the best of the evils. Probably no comment, but enough for the police and CPS to move forward.
