I don't know what you witnessed first hand but whatever it was was only the top of the iceberg.
All the financing and ideological direction came from Saudi, very often from within the Royal family.
I really do think you need to see BBC documentary, House of Saud, a family at war.

It's a dirty world out there and nobody's hands are clean, including the Western democracies.

I use the Newsnow aggregator for City news. They are asking for donations for Afghanistan on the basis of a humanitarian crisis. I have donated some money but feel sickened that the US UK and others spent billions on this war. They up and leave, and the poor people are left destitute relying on charities to help them. Where on earth is the sense in this ? Same happened in Iraq, WMD etc.
I used to have such a strong belief in Western democracy, but my beliefs are really now pushed to the limits.

The humanitarian crisis is terrible - I get how you feel.

At the same time - there is simply not nearly enough support for Democracy in Afghanistan. Afghani's mostly - or at least those willing to die for their beliefs - want a strict, Muslim, religious government.

Outsiders cannot impose their preferred style of governance on Afghanistan - let them find their own way.

I know my comment is somewhat trite, but as a supposedly intelligent species have we really learnt so little from previous conflicts that we cannot curb our base instincts for war and violence?
NATO really need to step in and show support for Ukraine against the psychopathic Putin and his bullying regime.
It seems to me we are facing a repeat of the nazi invasion of Poland which led to the second world war.
If WW3 happens though, who will survive to tell of the horror?
Putin needs to be arrested and sectioned as a matter of urgency.

That isn't really what NATO is for. We (UK & US at least) are already very much doing our bit.

Sorry you're quite right and it's been a long day as I've been up since 4am yesterday!, Yeah, al-Qa'ida were trained against the Russians and the Taliban were propped up by the US. Either way, it makes little difference as the US has, basically, stuck its nose into affairs it didn't need to!

Al Qaeda weren’t formed till 1988 and weren’t involved in the fight against Russia. That was the Afghan Mujahideen which at one time had Bin Laden as a member.

Why do you bother getting involved in discussions where you clearly have no clue what you’re talking about and you make shit up to justify your anti-American stance on just about everything.
