Probably, but Mata and Rooney would switch positions and Fletcher providing he is healthy would start most games. Moyes is an average manager, but not even he would be able to screw things up that much.

Man Yoo are desperate

They will pay €40m for Mata
Mata probably worth closer to 30 million, because he has no star value, but for the situation United are in 40 million pounds would be a good deal.

If Chelsea want rid they should loan him out for say 7 million with an option to buy for a further 30 million. Madrid appear to be switching to a 4-3-3 so don't need him, but PSG, Monaco and Napoli can raise the money.

As has been mentioned by others, where are they going to play him? If they persist with their 4-4-1-1 then when Van Persie and Rooney are fit Rooney plays in the No.10 role which is Mata's natural position, pushing Mata wide limits his options in the same way United have misused Kagawa. And they can't change to a 4-3-3 formation as they don;t have a good enough centre midfield to play it.
Kagawa is a very good player, but he is no Mata. Even if Moyes is stupid enough to persist with Rooney as 10 over Mata it still won't negate Mata's impact. Unlike Kagawa, Mata has fantastic delivery and can still be very effective out wide. The problem is he leaves that side completely exposed. Will count against United against the likes of City and possibly Arsenal, but not enough against everyone else.

Rooney lacks creativity now. Players evolve and Rooney now is just a no 9. Yeh he can drop deep, but all he does is spray the ball out wide. He never creates anything through the middle. Kagawa is very dependent on the system. He needs the team to play quick passing football with lots of movement. Mata is someone who consistently creates chances out of nothing. Even if he starts out wide he can still come inside.

Mata is basically a player on the level of Silva. Mata creates more chances, scores more goals and is more direct. Silva gives you more control of the game, more possession and can better defensively. How would you feel if United were signing a Silva clone?

PSG have money and want a creative player. It would be great if PSG bought Mata and then United got Pastore.

Best case scenario United just buy Baines and Mata goes to say Dortmund.

Does anyone know if Mata is eligible for the final (assuming Sunderland roll over tomorrow night)?
Is he eligible for the next round of the Champions League?
If this goes through and it swings the PL title this season to Chelsea we'll never hear the end of it on Sky about how brilliant a move it was for "The Special One".
To me strengthening a potential rival for future seasons just doesn't make sense if he is trying to create a Mourinho dynasty unless the monies are already allocated for a new striker in this transfer window?

He'll be cup-tied. He played and scored for Chelsea in an early round, Arsenal away I think

He is not eligible for the Champions League and I don't think he is eligible for the Carling Cup. He scored against Arsenal in the cup so if the rules are the same he should be cup tied.

Who cares about the CL and League Cup?

This is all about the Premiership which Jose wants to win more than anything because he knows he has no chance of the CL.

Nah, I think they have a good shout at the CL. Dortmund is utter wank this season and Chelsea's one of a very few teams that can beat Bayern, them and Madrid

Just a smokescreen from the chosen one and the rag media, the real target is Leighton Baines.

Sounds very much on the cards, Mata just wants to play regular at this point with the World Cup looming .... Chelski have played United twice in the league. Help strengthen United team who still have to play Arsenal and us again ..... Its a punning clan!
