It isn't their entire war chest. If they miss out on top 4 football, they will have around £90m to spend. Exclude Mata's £40m, that leaves £50m and whatever they get for Rooney.

True but if Rooney goes he'll need to be replaced and that will cost more than they get for him, plus RVP will need replacing soon not to mention a left back , central midfield and central defenders

He is a class player. Class players cost big money, Chelski will string them along till deadline day and get as much as they can. I think he will be able to adapt to any system, either behind main striker, out wide or deeper in midfield. They are desperate, but he is no fellani, he is a footballer.

Stands to reason that if they bought in an old failure who has shown some form in a different league they would off load one that the manager doesn't rate.

They need three or four of that quality IMO. The danger is more the psychological boost the club will get from such a signing.
