It will be great signing for them. He can have an impact instantly, he will want to prove his price also play a lot after Mourinho kept him on bench. Also wants to be in WC squad for that he needs to play a lot and play well.

With Rooney/RVP coming back soon, I think they will just do enough to get 4th place. Cant really say Pool/Spurs/Everton can be that good to take 4th. They all will drop a lot of points in coming weeks, Pool-Everton,Spurs-City, Liverpool-Arsenal, Tottenham-Everton in next 3 rounds...

It isn't their entire war chest. If they miss out on top 4 football, they will have around £90m to spend. Exclude Mata's £40m, that leaves £50m and whatever they get for Rooney.
