Match of the Day last night

Not a great Hansen or MOTD fan , had too watch it as my Football first recordings seem to have failed.
I don't think there was too much wrong though with how they dealt with us compared with other teams.
The kit is trivial but tyeh talked more about the Liverpool kit.

We were fourth match up and they usually spend a bit less analysis on this so I have no complaints about not analysing the penalty. Yes it was a bad decision but I don't think they should analyse every bad decision a ref makes it is not ref watch.They implied it was a bad decision as they said Halsey has had a hard time already and they are right about that, after the cancer bollocks from the Liverpool fans, he does not need another lot of grief from the TV over a decision that ultimately changed nothing except goal difference.

Hansen and Mick praised Kompany as being the best defender last season by a mile but said he has been poor this season, an opinion I have seen on this board.

I find Hansen pretty poor at times and insufferable when discusssing Balotelli. I wish MOTD would show more football and less opinion pieces particularly from pundits who have clearly not had the time to see anything other than a few highlights form the majority of the matches that they opine on but in that programm I dont think the punditry was any worse for us than most others.

Glossing over Halsey was poor but the Kompany footage was fair.

We all know he's had an indifferent start to the season and they did say he was and is the best centre half in the league.

I wrote on the matchday thread I wish he'd stop diving into tackles.

Just watched it. I can take Hansen talking shit - it's expected - but it's a fact that they didn't show any goals of the team that won, didn't comment on the most controversial moment and only said negative things about the team that won without any positives to balance it out.
That is just bizarre

The insinuation was that they weren't going to discuss the penalty because Halsey has had a 'tough week'. Like I said in my OP, they shouldn't refuse to criticise a refereeing performance because a few dickheads said nasty things about him on the internet (not that I in any way condone that). I know Kompany hasn't pulled up any trees so far this season (compared to last season) but their analysis of his performance yesterday was unduly harsh. Instead of being anti-city or anything like that (althought that was a by-product of their analysis) I just thought they focused on entirely the wrong things.

Cityfan, it wasn't just the penalty he did give, what about the 2 he didn't? Surely all 3 decisions warrant being discussed. I listened to the match on GMR, they and others said we were back to our brillaint best of passing and inter play so why not highlight that instead of 'Kompnays shit' ?

-- Sun Sep 30, 2012 12:19 pm --

I don't think the referees decisions should be the focus of every match because they often get things wrong it is a fast moving game and IMHO they spend too mcuh time as it is on marginal decisions. If I would complain about the referees yesterday it would have been as a Wigan fan. Two tackles one worse than the other and the wrong man goes and it affected the result.
I don't think the analysis was brilliant ut that is because they are trying to analyse too many matches which they cannot possibly have had time to see. Not anti City just their usual.

Fulham.

1 penalty.(poor decision)
1 shot(second half)

City.

Played some beautiful football.
Numerous chances.
Definite penalties.

BBC/Hanson.

Horrible kit.
Kompany poor game.
Erm....

It's about time somebody at City gave the person in charge of BBC sport at Mediacity a ring and had a chat.
I agree fed up of this bad press city get
Why exactly are you fed up of it and how would your life be different if they changed?

I personally love the hate and would hate it if they were creaming themselves over us, blowing smoke up our arse without meaning it or wanting to do it or being false about it all. At least they hate or they're jealous of us and they're showing it and not hiding behind lies about the way they feel about us. I'd much rather have it this way.

Fair point about the scheduling of our game in the running order of the programme but the bit I found really confusing was that during their "analysis" of Liverpool's game they showed that games two possible penalty incidents and discussed them at length,
#1 Suarez goes down - no penalty & the comment "if he doesn't get a penalty for that he never will";
#2 Suarez could have gone down - again no penalty but the comments were angled to give the impression that this was PROOF that he doesn't EVER dive;
which, for me at least, obviously showed a slight pro-Liverpool agenda attached to the analysis, especially in light of the Rodgers' letter to the FA and loads of their players in the press saying he's unfairly treated, and in a (sort of) deflective response tactic to remove a bit of the attention away from the liverpool fans reaction on twitter or at least to highlight why they're getting frustrated at the number of penalties he's had turned away. Which is all very well and good, we all have our allegencies don't we, BUT...

...then at the end of the piece I'm pretty certain I heard Gabby Logan actually say something along the lines of "if you think those decisions were strange, just you wait" or "more on dubious penalty claims later" - obviously her words weren't quite as blatant as what I've just written, but she definitely said something to that affect.

...and then our game comes along and we all know what they showed and what their comments were after our game.

Just very, very odd tha'sall.
