Unless you believe that referees are receiving wads of cash for changing games then is it likely they would put up with the abuse and criticism they get for bad decisions just for the sake of some 'lets keep united happy' conspiracy?)
We've seen abuse of referees spill over in the past from online to phone calls, letters and personal abuse in the streets so the BBC deciding to give him a break for once is hardly the greatest evil of all time.
What has the fact that Halseys wife's got cancer got anything to do with how MOTD do a programme? Last week he gave some decisions that Liverpool fans didn't like and some morons abused him and his wife on twitter, that is a sad reflection on our society but it is more a reflection on Twitter and the way it is totally unpoliced. By your logic if MOTD then highlight 3 decisions he made, 1 penalty given, 2 not, a large section of City fans will also abuse him on the interent. Sorry, but that is unlikely to happen and it is not the BBC's job to be the social conscience of the nation. There is no point in having a presenter and 2 so called experts on a show (at great expense to the licence payer) if they are not going to look at contraversial decisions. Why not just show edited highlights of all the games without there input ? Actually that might be better but that is not the point being discussed here. They have 3 people who should be looking at incidents and also highlighting good play as well as poor play. I know I wear Blue tinted glasses but I cannot recall many instances when they presented an postive angle about City.
