Mark Chapman is a good presenter. Linekar was only ever just alright as a presenter, often forgetting what was coming next on live coverage and there’d be an awkward silence for a few second while he looked at his sheet to ask the next question. Whereäs, Chappers is a natural presenter.
My Father knows Chappers and says he does a great deal of research on football, rugby league and NFL when he presented that to get up to the knowledge required. Takes his job seriously.
Will be good for MOTD.
As for the programme in itself; people moan about it, saying this buzz lines ‘it’s out-of-date’ or ‘old fashioned’… but there’s nowt wrong with it the way it is and always has been (look at QoS for an example of ruining a programme by trying to ‘modernise’ it, which started even before getting rid of Barker, Dawson and Tuffers when they introduced stupid games to the show, putting balls in tubes and shit like that).
Since MOTD has been on iPlayer (a few decades at a guess), I don’t think I’ve ever not ended up watching a single episode.
It’s a British television institution and should always be in our screens with that theme tune!
