Maybe there is some sort of agreement not to get into bidding wars but to not go after each other’s targets suggests collusion as to each other’s targets and also that who ever says their target first gets a free run.

I never said anything about targets, they went against us for Mbappe for one. I said players, and I don't recall them ever bidding for one of our top players or us theirs (the argument being they wanted to sell Danilo and Robinho), plus the sheikh bailed them out so it could be true. As to collusion its absolutely rife with the big old clubs, Real + Juve + Bayern always doing those stupid 2 year loans and then a miniscule fee between each other so I don't see why this is ludicruous.
Was just asking if anyone connected to or briefed by the club had denied it. It could be nonsense, I don't know, but given Sheikh Mansour's investment and feeling for Real I wouldn't be suprised.
Edit: As to FFP 2.0 if they did try to fuck us then I could see us changing our mind but there is no FFP 2.0 and any measure to fuck us would also fuck them just as much so I don't buy that one.
i don't know about that there's a world of difference between not poaching each other's players and not competing for transfer targets. The latter sounds highly unlikely to me.
Again fair enough but let’s say there wasn’t a pact. Would we really be going after Madrid’s top players. City are my team but I don’t really see any player seeing it as step up. Madrid have won what, 3 or 4 champions leagues in the last 5 or 6 years. And if they came for ours, well we are relatively successful, going in the right direction and likely pay more save the Ronaldos of the world. We likely do not entertain any bids for players at the top of their game.

Kovacic is a wonderful midfielder. However, he is not really a DM. So i can see why he wouldn't be an alternative to Jorginho.
Jorginho is not a DM either but he's more defensively aware than Kovacic. My biggest problem with Kovacic is he's not had a stretch of meaningful football for several years. He's not developed to be a better player than he was at InterKovacic is a wonderful midfielder. However, he is not really a DM. So i can see why he wouldn't be an alternative to Jorginho.
