Kovacic never set the world on fire at Inter either tbh and only left for Madrid due to FFP. I'm not sure where the hype for him began, but I guess playing at Madrid boosts your level up a few points regardless of your performances. He's obviously a tidy player but not worth his transfer fee at all.

Fabregas is intelligent enough to adapt his game imo but would be an expensive squad player.

I'd have thought he'll definitely start for Chelsea in a midfield 3.

He's certainly miles better than Fabregas, Barkley, Drinkwater, Loftus-Cheek.

I agree with that, but a midfield 3 of those lacks creativity in my uneducated footballing brain so cant see the benefit of starting ahead of fabregas, barkley or L-C. Drinkwater is gash agreed and we would have had a lot more stick than they’ve received after spunking £35m on him
