perfect gundo replacement. maybe even a upgrade in some sense.
why are you comparing bernardo. he is a gundo replacement. make a map with gundo might be a better comparison.Turns out I did have some time to draw one up.
Here is their Effective Role (Versatility) Map, left side is the opposition goal, Bernardo is the blue box and Kovavic is the yellow box.
There is only some overlap, which is the role we both agree Kovacic could play well in a Pep side. But there is a big effective area where he cannot replace Bernardo’s contributions.

Because “replacement for Bernardo” was the comparison to which I was responding that I disagreed with.why are you comparing bernardo. he is a gundo replacement. make a map with gundo might be a better comparison.
what do you mean gundo NO. pretty much the same player as him before gundo was given more freedom to go forward when we played with a false 9 .I don't who can he replace! ? Gundo NO
Bernardo NO. Letting Gundo out on free and getting a potentially inferior and expensive and injury prone option is not good look
For the money, for 3-4 yrs, he’s gold…and steel!!100% agree about Gundo and Bernardo but not sure about Kovacic although I will say I think he had a great WC
alright. still contend the point that he is very different to gundo. for me they are more similar than different.Because that was the comparison to which I was responding that I disagreed with.
I have already said he is more a replacement for Gundogan, even if they are also different style players.
Gundog's been playing as a No 8, with the inverted FB/CB allowing him to get forward, leaving him with less first line defensive responsibilities.why are you comparing bernardo. he is a gundo replacement. make a map with gundo might be a better comparison.
I didn’t say very different. ;-)alright. still contend the point that he is very different to gundo. for me they are more similar than different.
30m would be steal. Don’t think he’s as good as Gundogan though

Absolute nonsense! Gundogan is our captain and heartbeat and I hope he is given 2-3yrs and signs… that being said, Kovacic at the price being mooted, isn’t a bad option.honestly, upgrade on Gundogan. Would be delighted if we were in for him should Ilkay decide to leave.

Kovacic is a terrific footballer, I'd have him at City in a heartbeat.Absolute nonsense! Gundogan is our captain and heartbeat and I hope he is given 2-3yrs and signs… that being said, Kovacic at the price being mooted, isn’t a bad option.

Whilst I broadly agree with your sentiments in general as things stand, most importantly, we’ve yet to add the Pep/City factor into that equation (and take out the years of turmoil and uncertainty at Chelsea).I'd be amazed if after three years of watching Kovacic week in week out for City you still think he's better than Gundogan.
