I think some are "underwhelmed" because he doesn't fit the profile of a shiny new toy. He is not the all hurrah attack type of guy. Instead, he is a hard-working box-to-box type with a very high defensive contribution. The guy doing the dirty work, getting fouled a lot, the guy who makes a perfect through ball, so we can all chant the name of the goal scores and think, who passed that ball? He is the one to play his way out of defense with excellent ball control and technical ability, the guy who is fast enough to bail out his teammates when they make a mistake and we are vulnerable to a counter. Pep loves him for a reason, and I think he is what we need right now, especially for Rodri's sake.
Spot on. Agreed.

If they paid 42m to get him, I don't see how 47m will be enough for them? They will definitely keep him unless they can make a good profit around 10 to 15m extra to the purchase price. So, it should be between 52 to 57m.

I'm not sure this one will happen Wolves appear to be wanting a lot more than we want to pay.

Mendes will know exactly what it will take for the deal to happen and Mendes will without question have told Txiki what it will take. Wolves still have huge financial problems and maybe as they want Doyle we could take Nunes and sell them Doyle for say £20m?

It was £38m a year ago was it not? In which case his book value right now is £30.4m so anything over that goes down as profit.

We have entered the posturing stage. Wolves will now turn down an offer or two, then it will be dragged out a bit to show a fight and then he will sign.

Wolves journalists will spin the old "big bad City, ruining the prem and so forth" and then its all sorted.

I remember watching him against us whilst at Sporting and he had a really strong game against a midfield of Rodri, Bernardo and KDB I believe. There's a player in there definitely. I think people's opinion would be different if we were purchasing him from Sporting and not Wolves. Definitely a bit of premier league snobbery going on here.

Interestingly we seem to be doing this a bit differently. Bidding so quickly and negotiating from there. Rather than negotiate then bid.

Bellingham, Rice and Paqueta not happening plus injuries has thrown us and forced our hand.

A bit of unusual, frantic excitement to end the window. Can’t beat it.
