Matija Nastasić

This - Boyata is dogshit

Nasty was quality and then got injured for best part of a season - now he's finally fit we're selling him for half the price of Phil Jones.

bullshit

Sounds like we want them completely off the books....

City will not allow Micah, Nastasic, Sinclair and Guidetti to leave on loan according to the Telegraph, hope to raise £20m+ by selling them.

Telegraph: City want around £8m for Nastasic (seems low), £7m for Micah (price may have to drop) and £2.5m-ish each for Sinclair + Guidetti.
The only way I would believe the Nasta fee is if it had significant variables tacked on and a notable sell-on fee. I know people hate The Sun, but Martin Blackburn clearly has a good source and until he or at least a variety of journalists quote that figure, I'll hedge my bets on believing it. I don't see any way he'd be worth half the price of what we bought him for -- he's a known commodity now.

I believe Nasty has potential but if you go by Peller's quote according to Stuart Brennan (MEN), "Matija needs to play". With Kompany, DM, and now Mangala in front of him this might be in Nasty's best interest rather than ours for football reasons. I would rather have him on the bench than Boyata given their recent/past performances but could that doesn't sit right to me. Financially it probably makes sense too. So I would say not an easy but tough decision. If he does leave, hopefully he can get a move to a club where he will get an opportunity for consistent playing time and become the footballer we all hoped he would for us.

Nastasic is home grown this year as well so that is irrelevant. If we received £10m bids for both players I have enough confidence in Manuel to presume he would sell Boyata and keep Nastasic. However the reality is we need only one of these as cover and we are getting bids for only one of them as far as I am aware. Therefore he is likely to go and Boyata used as Carling cup/injury cover
You're talking bollocks I'm afraid. Nastasic is not HG and never will be, he's counted as U21 for this season only. Boyata however is and much more importantly is Club Trained. We need him for the CL squad since we literally have no one else to fill the role.

A perfect summation.

Sadly.

I think that's what he meant by 'home grown this year' to be fair ..... slightly inaccurate as HG and U21 not exactly the same thing...

yep too low, he is worth at least what vermalen went for

Hope he doesn't go for anything less than £15mil. Injuries and a different playing style have affected him, but he's obviously quality and can improve a lot. We're too critical of young players here; think of the shit Ramsey got from Arsenal fans 2 seasons ago, now he's easily worth £30mil+. Give it time and he'll come good.

Are we really that desperately in need of cash? Season loan to lower-table / top championship would be ideal if he has a realistic chance of playing most games for them.

If mgmt (Pelle, Txiki, Ferran) want to sell Nasty, then it is because they are clearly not interested in carrying him NEXT SEASON when he will count against FFP. In some ways, this is exciting, because they clearly have already laid out their internal plans for the squad for next season and see Nasty (as good as many feel he is) as surplus to those requirements. That is excellent news for the likes of Denayer and Rekik, who are both HG and look like they will be there or thereabouts next year. Notice, Boyata did not sign a 5 yr deal, but a two year deal. That allows him to stay for another year, then have some sell on value.

I only wish we had access to the big Excel Spreadsheet in the big office where they lay out all this maneuverings, as it would put most of these stories to bed early.....but drive up the cost of the players we ware looking at dramatically!!!

I expect that next year, with the shackles off, City will be looking at adding only world class talent to the mix, and at top dollar prices, so they need to have a conveyor of young talent to fill in.

Also, to my mind, HG talent will always be used in the "less than key" positions, which is the pine of the team, unless they are reaching that "approaching world class" talent levels. So, a second center half, full backs, substitute outside midfielders, etc... The spine will nearly always be the world class talent we see "imported" today, simply because it is very difficult to grow it yourself and very expensive to buy, because there are so few players fit the bill, based on a managers method of playing.
