If mgmt (Pelle, Txiki, Ferran) want to sell Nasty, then it is because they are clearly not interested in carrying him NEXT SEASON when he will count against FFP. In some ways, this is exciting, because they clearly have already laid out their internal plans for the squad for next season and see Nasty (as good as many feel he is) as surplus to those requirements. That is excellent news for the likes of Denayer and Rekik, who are both HG and look like they will be there or thereabouts next year. Notice, Boyata did not sign a 5 yr deal, but a two year deal. That allows him to stay for another year, then have some sell on value.
I only wish we had access to the big Excel Spreadsheet in the big office where they lay out all this maneuverings, as it would put most of these stories to bed early.....but drive up the cost of the players we ware looking at dramatically!!!
I expect that next year, with the shackles off, City will be looking at adding only world class talent to the mix, and at top dollar prices, so they need to have a conveyor of young talent to fill in.
Also, to my mind, HG talent will always be used in the "less than key" positions, which is the pine of the team, unless they are reaching that "approaching world class" talent levels. So, a second center half, full backs, substitute outside midfielders, etc... The spine will nearly always be the world class talent we see "imported" today, simply because it is very difficult to grow it yourself and very expensive to buy, because there are so few players fit the bill, based on a managers method of playing.
