It wouldn't make sense to me, no, but then neither would spending huge money on a young centre back when we have Stones, Laporte and Garcia already and are in dire need of a left back and holding midfielder, with a new striker not too far down the line either.

I actually agree here. I think De Ligt and Laporte would make the ultimate backpair. I've been thinking about this since I first heard of (and saw) De Ligt.

I really like Stones but he is missing the physical part of the game. Laporte is like a tower, you can't push him over. Stones had a few situations where he has been a pushover. Not the best feature for a centre back. I still really like him and think he will get even better. But look at De Ligt - he is fast, so strong and decisive. Only 19.
The best would be a back three with Laporte – De Ligt - Stones. I think this back three would be the best in the world. It would be good enough to stop most of the attacks, and then use Mendy and/or Walker as wingback, probably Mendy as Walker can't make a simple cross.

Whatever the line-up, I know De Ligt is still young and plays in a fairly easy league, but his huge talent is undisputed. We need a third world class CB since Kompany is leaving (this or next year, and we all know Otamendi is too uneven and reckless to be considered world class). This is exactly the talent City need to replace Kompany in the long term. I haven't been this excited since Mbappe entered the stage and I hope City do everything they can for this to happen. Just pay Ajax. For me, Frenkie De Jong was never as important as this deal.

Raz Gabby/Kun Sane

With stones maybe pushing forward as a CDM in possesion and Walker going inside as a cb. In my mind it works and if Sane and Mendy could coexist(and if mendy could get on the f*cking pitch lol) that would be a crazy good lineup without a fernandinho replacement.

Sancho and Felix for rotation with the 3 infront(Felix when kun leaves) and we would be set for decades lol

Stones was way too soft but he is toughening up.
