Maybe i was wrong about Elano

"I would not have any problem playing in Italy. And Lazio are a very good team," Elano told Corriere dello Sport.

"I cannot say more, I have to speak to Manchester City. I will do it soon, then decide what to do.

"I have heard it said that Lazio would be interested. I am pleased that such a big club is tracking me."

Very professional comments on the morning of a cup game where he put in a disgraceful performance

What made it worse were his comments shortly before the Nottingham game where he said he would love to go to Lazio.

He never said he'd love to play for Lazio.

He didn't?

Sounds to me like he did.

Heard them a million times from a million footballers. No big deal.

Maybe he wants to speak to the club to see if he has a future under a manager that has made it obvious he has no time for him. Don't blame him for not ruling out his options.

I don't blame him either but it would be nice if he would not open his mouth about it right before an important game.

Unbelievable Moomba.

So Elano publicly slags off his manager, and touts himself around the Italian press looking for a move and that's ok. The Manager, takes umbrance at his alleged star talking to the media in such a way and tries to rein him in with a fine a dressing down, and that's poor management and worthy of Hughes losing his job.

Even so, Hughes was taken aback to discover that one fringe player approached the club's executive chairman, Garry Cook, to air his grievances about Hughes's tactics and team selections. The player in question was given short shrift and is not expected to play for the club again. Another player is said to have been laughing and joking after Saturday's 3–0 defeat by Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.

Was this Kasper? Heard he was laughing like fuck on Saturday.

I never said that it was OK for Elano to do the Sky interview, and never had a problem with Hughes giving Elano a dressing down and fining him.

Not sure where you got the idea that wasn't the case.

Don't have a problem with anyone talking about other clubs, he's being drummed out of the club so why shouldn't he look at his options.

If Hughes was so pissed off with Elano's attitude why did he start him in the Forest game anyway?

Elano's scoring stats this season are misleading, he's been playing a lot deeper than last season because of Ireland's form and Robinho's arrival.

LOL...this thread's pretty funny, I have to say...

So, Elano's a gonner. Is a "shit house" which I think is an apt description with delusions of grandeur. Probably close to the root of most of the problems in the dressing room...a few of us have been saying for a while he's vastly overrated and this will be proven when nobody other than a midtable Italian or Spanish team will want him...

...i'm still waiting for the massive offers from Liverpool or Inter for our diminutive playmaker...;- )

As for the press being briefed...City are hardly the first club to brief the press against their own players. And all those who have taken such umbrage against it should really just get over it and move on. There's no point in giving yourselves heart problems prematurely because you're so irate that MH dared to out the lazy fuckers in our dressing room.

I'm actually glad he did it...players will now think twice before fucking with him...

Ooh, one more thing...I think went through this in another thread...why should Hughes be respected? Because he's the fucking boss. He earned the right to manage those players by being appointed manager of City...and funnily enough, our consistently best performers this season, the ones we've been raving about, seem to have no problem with his management style...it's fringe players who don't like him...

We desperately need players who have the passion/ability to drive us forward so we can weed out the under-performers in our team!

Elano, Hamaan, Ball, Richards, Jo and the like all need a good kick up the arse. Richards is the exception in this as he is going through a bad patch, the signing of another CB should fire him up

I would rather have a team who had passion for the club instead of trying to put themselves up for a move like Elano has!

Maybe if Hughes was a bit more selective with his briefs Elano might be a bit easier for him to offload.

There won't be any massive offers, because clubs know that Hughes is desperate to get rid.

Hugely over-rated by many imo. Had a few good games but his form for the last year would not get him into any of the top sides in the Prem. No smoke without fire so drop him, play him in the stiffs and sell him to Real Madrid when they come in with a mega-offer. lmao.

You'd think if he was THAT talented, the fact that he's clearly on his way out, and that he'll probably be available at a cut price, would mean the top clubs would be queuing up to pick up the bargain of the season! Sadly not...

...I know, maybe you can email them some of his stats to show them what a bargain he would be...;- )

Maybe they are, we're only 6 days into the window.

I've never used stats to say that Elano is a good player. But good to see people continue to post about me.

Oh and if its a choice between the arguing on pitch Studge and Elano, then I'll take Studge all day long ta. A player that's prepared to play for his manager and give all to the cause.

Of course they are Moomba. Can't wait for him to be paraded at Anfied or the San Siro...

So when you posted his passing stats, goalscoring stats, you weren't trying to prove he was a good player? Hmmm, interesting...

Hes lived off that free kick against Newcastle for too long-hes more suited to beach football but only as long as hes not facing Gary Speed on the opposite tream-get him fucked off Hughes ASAP

I have said from day one he is no good when physical pressure , ankle biting etc eyc is applied to him , he either reacts with vengeance ( ala Sheff Utd ) or goes missing.

This season he has largely been ineffectual on the pitch and that's all I am interested in , he has not been alone.

He is more suited to the Italian league and thats where his future will most likely be , the premiership is too tough and tumble for him as it is for most Brazialians.

No, I was trying to counter the statements made about him that were blatantly untrue.

- Only 1 in 10 passes come off. Stats will tell you that over 80% of his passes are effective.
- Done nothing for 12 months. 9 goals (can't even remember what the figure was) is more than something.
