My understanding is that if we appeal and it is successful we can still sign him in this window.

I'm not sure how appeals work. So if it get's heard tomorrow and he signs, is that counted as within the transfer window?

I am sure there has been a few like this, completed when the window has actually shut.

I have to say it amazes me that this kind of thing still happens, I dont profess to be knowledgeable on the rules around getting a work permit but others had said on here days ago that he wouldnt meet the requirements to do so so how is it possible that those in the know at City didnt know that this would happen?

I can honestly see 5pm coming and going with us having signed nobody because yet again we have left it until the last minute to try and get deals sorted!
Agreed. I can't get my head round it at all. Surely the Work Permit thing should have been looked into a little sooner, unless we're confident of getting one on appeal.

With Kenya's ranking, it was obvious it was going to go to appeal.

why did we wait till deadline day to try a near imposible deal like this ?

You´d have thought we´d have sounded this out beforehand - bad job - as for the home office must be a rag in charge coz that´s pathetic

Exactly mate, and might it just be possible that it has been engineered this way because we never intended to sign anyone else after Vieira. Why wait until the last minute to apply for a work permit, surely this should have all been sussed out up front if we realy wnated this deal.

Its just like the Pearce days, sitting around at midnight after a Spurs match waiting for Mido. All smokescreens to keep the fans interested. We wont be getting Johnson either.

2005/6
Following initial interest from Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp, Mariga looked set to sign for the Premier League team, but work permit issues held up the deal which was supposed to have cost around 2.7 million euros.

Jesus, calm down people !

We still have Viera to come back.

Summer is when the main business will get done and some serious dollar will be spent.
