McDonalds struggling

I don't think we have those other ones. Wendy's are juicy burgers.
If you ever find yourself northside, get yourself a Harveys double original with bacon and cheese.
The first time I had a Wendy's I'd just arrived in Dayton, OH. Got a taxi from the airport to my hotel a little after 9pm and it was absolutely smashing it down with rain. Dropped my bags off in the room, went back to reception and peered out the door to see if there was anywhere to get some food, and out of the darkness I saw the Wendy's sign across the carpark. Managed to make it without getting too wet, and when I got there the place was dead. Waited around 10 minutes for my burger which they made fresh. Back to the hotel, and after a long day travelling, I ate my burger, and washed it down with 3 miniature bottles of wine I'd managed to snaffle off the flight and went to bed satisfied.

When I woke up the next day the weather had cleared, and to my horror, there was a Hooters just around the corner, probably closer than the Wendy's.

There really isn't that much difference between a McDonalds burger and a Wimpy burger.
It just seems nicer as it's on a plate and people have more nostalgic memories as a kid.
I had a Wimpy the other day with the kids, it was ok, definitely more civilized to sit in - but really wasn't that world of a difference to a McDonalds.

I buy steak mince from the butcher. There's always a huge piece of steak in the fridge on display where he will take a slice from it and mince it Infront of you. It's £10 per kilo and you know exactly what you are getting unlike the meat you buy in the plastic boxes at the supermarket.

Yep, I think people are looking at Wimpy through rose-tinted specs. Sure, we all love to hark back to our perceived halcyon days and for those of us growing up in the 70s and 80s, Wimpy would've been a part of that for some of us. I actually don't have any memories of eating in the Manchester Wimpy referred to on here but I know we spent shit loads of time scoffing burgers in the Wimpy in Magaluf near the hotel on our lads jolly in 1990.

As for McDonalds, well they're never exactly going to win any foodie awards but they serve a purpose. It's classic hangover/piss-up food for me. I've often been heading home from a night out in the early hours and it's the only place that's open. Their double sausage and egg McMuffins are the best thing on the menu IMO and I've fuelled up for away games on one or more of those many a time. I do agree that their burgers on their own are pretty tasteless but as part of a Big Mac with the Big Mac sauce on them they become quite edible. Same goes for the Quarter Pounder and Cheese - the cheese, gherkins, and tomato sauce make it what it is. In truth, there are tastier fast food burgers - BK and Wendys - but try finding one open at 3am when you're on your way home. In fact, try finding a Wendys full stop outside of London!

Never had a burger from Wimpy. The all day breakfast with gammon was the way forward.
