Media bias against City

Something of a litmus test coming up.

Be interesting to see, if the Martial deal goes through, whether the add ons will be quoted generally as part of the transfer fee.

The Sterling transfer fee has now become set in stone at £49m, even though we only pay that if we win the CL.

Will the same approach be taken to the rags paying a large sum for a young player?

Tbf even the worst journos know the rags have no chance of winning the CL so why bother quoting add ons such as Sterling's... ;-)

Exactly this, but it's already clear that they aren't. Even Roberts is being quoted at £11m, despite only £2m being upfront. Meanwhile Depay is being quoted at £36m, with very few even mentioning "possibly rising to £58m". No doubt that would just be called £58m for us

Was Depay not a total of £31m?

Quick check of the main newspapers on Google and sure enough they all quote Martial as £36M. No surprise there then.

Its been on the radio all morning that theres a shit load of add ons to the £36 million, they are getting ripped a new arse in every paper, radio and sky

Yes but the headline is nearly always "£36M Anthony Martial" and "£25M Memphis Depay" compared to "£49M Raheem Sterling" and £12M Patrick Roberts"

€80m...

It's been evident for years that United are masters at manipulating the press. United say they didn't want Pedro anyway, the press don't challenge that despite it being obvious bull shit. And now United are quoting the up front payment of £36m and the press are just wiping the extra €30m in add ons from existence. Just have to laugh at how pathetic they all are, when we win the League none of this will matter.
