Media bias against City

The tv/press will always promote United and Liverpool when ever reasonably possible as they need to sell subscriptions/paper
Anyone who doubts hat should look BTs coverage of United's 0-0 with Chelsea. Rooney motm and United were on the up. Anyone with eyes could see that it was a ludicrous but that was their line and they stuck to it

True - but my big problem with this is flavouring TV and articles about City with spite, vitriol and venom - whether this is because the journalists are bitter (now that's irony) towards us they want to attract trolls to the article to rack up the advertising revenue - I don't care which to be honest both are dishonest.
The mediah has gone down the pan and is destroying our democracy with it. Surely unbiast as-it-is comment is possible in the modern age?

As usual you've completely deflected the point to suit your own boring & predictable agenda. You're a tiresome little troll.

I have so wanted to say that. The amount of effort put it into his seeming one-man campaign to persuade blues that the evidence of their eyes and ears should be ignored and that we are all just petty and insular is way off the scale beyond simple forum debating. There has to be some self-serving agenda - that or he needs to get a fucking life.

So because Man United played one cup game without the ground being full, and the press never mentioned it, that shows media bias against City and for United?

Nope. Sorry, PB. You're a bright guy and you know full well that that is strong a case of Confirmation Bias as you can get. I've sat in many City games that weren't full and nobody in any media ever mentioned it. It's expected in domestic cup games and therefore not newsworthy. The only time that it tends to get highlighted at City is the big Champions League games where there is as much comment on it by City supporters on here as in the press.

But that's my final comment. You aren't sucking me into this daft thread. All clubs get "negative" press, and most fans think they are the only ones.

Frank Sinatra and Didsbury Dave would swear black was white. So Frank can use Google search and find a few two year old articles that mention empty seats for the rags. The GMP case was well known but the article I read actually cast doubt on the reports and sought to discredit the figures on a number of spurious points - in essence seeking to rubbish it. Do a Google search on Man United Empty seats and in the search I performed the 4th link is a link to a mirror article from the 2nd December that talks about skysports trolling man city fans and laughing at them over empty seats!! Do the same search on Man city empty seats and your are served page upon page of articles ridiculing (not simply reporting) City for empty seats. The difference is very very obvious.

Why else do you meet some no mark fan of another club who loves to get a dig in about empty seats. When you actually suggest that our current attendance average is 54k on average 99% full (a higher percentage than liverpool inidentally)and most game in the prem are sold out they don't believe you. The jibes and digs are that incessant it is burnt into the psyche of opposing fans - it has almost now become one of the things we are famous for. This despite the fact that empty seats on certain occasions are a truth at all clubs and our average attendences are actually better than most.

If people can't see this as so clearly demonstrated by the rags attendance against Sheffield Utd being widely withheld and not reported or more importantly ridiculed, then well, words fail me.

When you consider their recent turgid performances, and then the resulting empty seats, the comedy value that could be derived by this is numerous but instead it's airbrushed from history.

If anyone doesn't believe in media bias after the most expensively assembled team in premier league history turned in a performance like that then it's pointless discussing.

Conceding 3, against a team that can't score having been 2 up. They had less possession, shots and yet somehow because they did the basics poorly that are being hailed as exciting. Apparently Rooney was magnificent, he did score 2 & did a few things well but the amount of times he tried to run at defenders only to lose the ball made him look poor & slow.

Put it this way.

With our average attendances, we could fill all PL grounds, with 1000's of fans to spare, bar Arsenal and the Rags.

That aside. Was sat in the canteen today surrounded by United fans. All they had to say was empty seats and the Emptyhad, with the odd 20 PL titles thrown in.

As we all know, and we keep on repeating on here, and amongst ourselves, United fans have got nothing left to throw at us.

Empty seats is the new 34 Years, ticker banner, Massive, Ciddy, nobody knows your name, Stockport, and a whole host of other jibes that are no longer used by their support.

Just tell them, "at least we've never had league attendances under 4,000".

Re the "drip drip" effect on other fans' perception, I think we've won one "battle". In motorway services and in odd places (a bowling alley in Norwich) it's common knowledge that city fans are from Manchester and rags fans aren't. (Though we did have a Cockney blue behind us at carrow road!)
