Was Paul Power having a joke at the Mail's expense?


Back in 2017, former club captain Paul Power voiced similar concerns about the importance of identity, and its absence at City. He said that the 'Manc had gone out of Manchester'.

'We need more Manchester,' he said. 'I don't care whether you are a supporter of Sc☆nthorpe United or Manchester City, you want to see local players in your team.




Its certainly a good thing he said Manc from Manchester and not a similar thing about Sc☆nthorpe!

The headline makes it sound like our academy has failed when in truth it has been a resounding success, irrespective of how many have actually played for our first team. Absolute top class facilities for youngsters to further their education and train. Many have gone on to have good careers elsewhere and we have made a fair bit of money in the process. In an ideal world six or seven would force their way into our first team squad and make it at the very top level, one day they might.

Doesn’t mention some of the ridiculous demands a lot of these youngsters were/are asking, we made a lot of very good contract offers to a lot of young talented players who refused them, blaming playing time when in truth they wanted more ££££, players choice at end of the day mind
