They can't help it can they? The article quotes Diaz saying Real are the only club he'd leave city for. Yet they portray it as a failure of our academy players not allowed to come through.

Let's see how many matches he gets for Real. Isco is light years ahead in quality of Diaz (and was when he was a youngster) and doesn't always start. I have never understood the fuss about Diaz. David White, Lake, Hinchc liffe, Onouha, Micah Richards, SWP, and Sturridge, all looked much better at the age of 19 than Diaz. I am not saying he is a bad player but I'll be surprised if he becomes a superstar.
He has looked lightweight in his first team appearances and not that outstanding in a lot of youth games for us. The media coverage, as always, has been unbalanced and absurd. I trust Pep's judgement on young players 100 per cent. FFS Pep is the man who transformed the youth set-up at Barcelona (before taking over the first team) He has developed some of the greatest young talents in the history of football.

This one from Sky is as bad.

Brahim Diaz: Where will Real Madrid signing fit in?
Brahim Diaz has joined Real Madrid after a lack of first-team opportunities at Manchester City. We look at what went wrong in England and consider why a return to Spain could suit the 19-year-old winger.

Madrid basically have no goal scorers so maybe that’s why he thinks he will play there
How many goals did Diaz get for us at youth and EDS level? I can't find the stats anywhere but it would be useful to see them. Isn't the truth that he just hasn't made the grade at City because the bar is high?

Opened the football supplement of The Times this morning with my sausage & egg McMuffin to read the match report on our game (even though I did attend) and there it was:
A full comparison and analysis of the cost / transfer value of each of the players in the respective squads.
I went through the rest of the supplement page by page to see if they had done this for another games such as the Tranmere v Spurs, Rags v whoever etc and guess what... Nope!
Nothing like on any other game over the whole weekend. This can't be a coincidence or a one off. It is simply sustained, blatant and biased reporting against us to keep up the media narrative of Manchester 'money bags' City in view and in the minds of the newspapers readership.

The moneybags reference will work both ways.

A lot of new fans will come just because we are the big spenders, attracted by top quality players. So I don't care tbh what they write.

Only have to look at the transfer forum.

You've totally gobsmacked me there that any team actually charge for the privilege of being a mascot. Which idiots actually pay West Ham £700 for that plus the £80 obligatory fee for a full team kit which won't fit them 6 months later?

And that clubs are so happy to have a PR disaster that brings in nothing remotely relevant financially.

Manchester Evening News.

This rag has sunk to a new low.................................

The lead article on their web site's Home Page is Wayne Rooney and his intoxication in the USA.

That on the day we put SEVEN past Rotherham.

And for the last few weeks the lead story whenever the rags played was always about them.

If I lived in Manchester (or surrounds) I definitely wouldn't cough up any money for their print edition.
So I take it you never read the article saying how far the Rags are behind City, when we made something like 8 changes and won 7-0,whilst the Rags made 6 changes and struggled to beat Reading by only 2-0.
No off course you didn`t.It doesn`t suit your narrative.

I think that's a little unfair.
He hasn't broken into the matchday squad as a regular because almost no-one has, and he's up against Sane, Sterling, and now Mahrez. Yes, the bar is high, but saying he hasn't made the grade seems harsh.

In terms of goals, does this help?
