Yup.. it was like when I was 10 years old as I was going to the game yesterday, me all excited at the prospect of seeing England's 'wunderkind' Damian Rice, for whom Arsenal paid the record transfer fee.

Just like when I used to go to Maine Road to see such as Jimmy Greaves or Alex Young or John White or 'Bronco' Layne or whoever..

I'd heard so much about him and his dynamic, attacking play from those ever so helpful pundits on the telly who give up their precious time to educate us so comprehensively with their wisdom and knowledge on modern day football!

But I didn't see him at all yesterday. Did he play? Mind, did any of the equally dynamic, attack-minded Arsenal team play yesterday? Imagine my disappointment at their collective 'no-show' when trudging back for the train home!

I'm thinking of writing to City to ask for my money back..
I first clocked Rice was playing 30 minutes in lol
Last night I heard some Arsenal mug on talksport saying this was a changing of the guard moment I kid you not.
Obviously watched a different game to the one I watched!

Exactly. We're still in a better position in the league than we were last year and we know what happened there.

For Arsenal, allegedly aspiring to be champions, to play so negatively, was really surprising, especially considering they're not only competing with us, but Liverpool as well. There are a lot of games still to play and arguably their run in is the most difficult of the three sides. It felt like they've gone early with the park the bus approach. Time will tell if that was actually a good point for them, after all.

If we can win against Villa, aside from Spurs away, our fixtures do look more winnable. Clearly that guarantees nothing, especially with FA Cup and Champs League fixtures coming thick and fast, but its not a bad set of fixtures going into the end of the season.
Who knows, this point yesterday could be the point that could win us the league.

Towards the end of the game, when we tried to break away, he committed a professional foul - fair enough - but he ran away carrying the ball with a guilty look on his face! It looked so desperate in that moment, that it summed up his entire game.
He basically was playing the game he played for the Hammers, fire fighting all over the pitch. It didn't look like he'd added anything to his game.
As for the Rodri comparisons - he has to win a lot of trophies and make important contributions before he can be considered anything more than a pale imitation. They could win the league and PL this season (only joking) and he'd still be someway short. He has potential though.

I've said it elsewhere; games are refereed differently depending on the teams meaning teams are not subject to the same application of the rules of the competition, i.e. UNFAIR.

I'm almost certain the that referees are given specific instruction on how certain teams should be refereed. For instance, our game relies so much on passing the opposition to death, but the amount of times opposition players get to break our rhythm with multiple blatant fouls that go unpunished? Arsenal got away with a hatful of challenges that could easily have drawn a card, but the PiGMOL twat refused to issue a card that he knew would have a bearing on the game.

If the threshold of what constitutes a YC that had been applied to the same degree the same referee has applied in other games he's officiated in this season was applied yesterday we win that game at a canter. Taylor has issued 109 yellow cards this season (I believe that also includes the 2 for timewasting yesterday), which is 18 more than the next referee, Simon Hooper. You're telling me non of those Arsenal fouls yesterday reached the threshold of any of those cards he's already dished out this season? Absolute bullshit.

It STINKS.
It's too magnanimous to call it 'unfair'. It is blatant manipulation of the game that matches totally my idea of cheating. Refs no longer referee, they no longer apply the laws as they are written, they 'manage' a game which amounts to unadorned 'fiddling'! We get screwed over every fuckin' week by these gutless apparatchiks from PiGMOL. I can get annoyed with some of the decisions in the CL but I never come away thinking we've been on the shitty end of 'manipulation'!

He's never gonna be a 'Rodri', even if he were born again, he'll be someway short. He's only the RDAHMeedya shining light 'cos of the shirt colour and the address of his home ground. Smoke up arses, fairground mirrors and yer've got a clone of our Rodders.

I don't think we are. Although we are down less points on the leader, there are 2 teams ahead of us now and neither look like dropping many points.
Chasing down two teams is a much harder task than either one of arsenal or liverpool.

We win all our games we win. They’ll drop at least 5-6 points each.

I hope you are right but I just can't see that scenario.
I think arsenal seem to have the tougher run in of the 3 but pulling back 4 points over liverpool is a tough task.
With teams having a midweek fixture plus some tough games at the weekend, this time next week may give us a clearer picture of where the title is heading.

The press have already crowned Liverpool champions, are result yesterday being treated like the end of the world as we ended the Arses run of 9 consecutive wins. Liverpool have to go to the Swamp and we know what happened there a fortnight ago. They have also to go to Goodison and Everton are guaranteed to " fight, fight, fight, with all their might" won't be an easy night for them. Don't think Liverpool like a hostile atmosphere used to universal adoration in the press. All we can do is win our remaining games and remember at this stage in 2012 we were in a far worse position. I feel however if we don't beat Villa on Wednesday its game over with just two cups to concentrate on. Having been at Stoke in 1998 I refuse to feel pessimistic about our current situation.. Not a happy clapper but a realist
