Government has blocked Sheikh Mansours purchase of the Telegraph.

There are people in authority who really do have a problem with people from the Middle East.

Perfectly fine for Non Doms or Putin linked son of KGB agents to own newspapers.... but not a Muslim!!

You’re giving them way too much credit here. It will likely be trainee reporters (at best) moderating the comments.

They will be working to libel law guidelines but they will still be extremely junior members of staff with limited industry knowledge - you ain’t getting seasoned journalists or legal teams sifting through online comments.
This is still the case from my direct experience. The job of moderating comments is done by the most junior people in most mainstream media outlets including the BBC and they are poorly paid. Organisations can't afford to oversee this type of content 24 hours a day. The reason they take a risk by not checking comments properly is they are driven by clickbait not quality. The more divisive and confrontational the comments the more traffic they generate. It is a race to the bottom. I don't blame the tabloids but the taxpayer-funded BBC should not be in this space.

His must be in the post still.
Why is he persisting with his claim that City are: "owned by a Gulf state." This is demonstrably false and not even Der Spiegl made that claim. Does this mean that all Sheikh Mansour's global investments in the tech sector, Education, and the banking sector are "owned by a Gulf state." Has anyone ever produced a scrap of evidence that this is the case. If it is the case then why are the PL investigating us for "disguised owner investment."

Well no, it will be people who are part of their social media and communications department. It's an industry unto itself, it's not appropriate for a journalist to be doing that job.

Being part of a social media department doesn’t mean they’re not junior members of staff with limited experience of libel in media.

The fact it isn’t appropriate for a journalist to be doing the job is an indicator of the importance publishers place on moderation.

All things being equal a journalist would absolutely 100% be the most qualified person to moderate over what is and what isn’t a libellous comment because they are trained in that field of expertise.
