I was also there . Terrible day . Grown men crying on The Kippax. Visceral hatred of Luton T ever since ( sister and nephew are ST holders so great at family gatherings )

Awful day, such a shock because I’d never known us be relegated and there was never any real prospect of us going down until that final day.

I remember being in the car with my old man after the game driving back up Lloyd St and it all suddenly dawned on me and I started crying. Stoic as ever, he goes “don’t be upset son, it’s happened before it’ll happen again”

Good advice. Of course it did happen again but I didn’t cry at a football match again until May 2011 at Wembley :-)
