The 80s were great Phil, thousands of miles travelling to celebrate yet another shit performance. We only went because our mates did. It was something to do on a Saturday. :-)

I actually yearn for the 1960s. 62/3 to 65/6 was my all-time favourite period, when we went from dire to 2nd Division Champions, followed by 67/8 to 69/70... football of the gods.

Proper football. Not this namby pamby nonsense that they play on carpets nowadays.

You’re probably thinking of James, but Harry Dowd played upfront for us when he got injured and scored the winner
Dowd actually scored the equaliser in a 1-1 draw against Bury at Maine Road. His arm was in a sling.

The other goal was scored by Colin Bell in his league debut.

Unfortunately they do exist.

Spoke to a guy last weekend after the match who said he hopes we're found guilty of the 115 charges and we go back to the lower divisions. Think he's a season ticket holder too. Said he preferred it then rather than the quiet atmosphere now.

Lots of blue tinted glasses I think. Probably misses his youth rather than the reality.
Top berting. Only a blue could think like this while the world club and PL trophies sit in the cabinet.

Yes was at the game just 14,000 in a 63,000 capacity stadium, more at Gigg lane for the other league fixture in the 63/64 season another 1-1 watched by 18,000.

And you wouldn’t believe how excited this **** Minay sounds at their goal
Just about know the name.

Does he do the GMR Comms these days? It surely can't be hard to get a local ex City player to do the gig for a couple of beers.

I used to listen to the phone in on the way home after games but a spat between a fan and 'big blue' O'Neill finished me off when after slagging match going fans off O'Neill saw his arse when challenged about the last time he'd paid to get in a game....it was something like that anyway.
