My 10 year old son could write more factual stories than these. They do know (despite what they think) that legally City are NOT state owned. So why would we need to change ownership?

Aah but this time they’ve included every single possible link they can draw. It’s amazing that they don’t realise how influential US billionaires are.

Well I'd also question the fact that INEOS regularly receive huge financial support from the UK coffers e.g. only this year they received £700/800m for one of their projects from our government (tax payers). If that money is helping INEOS make more profit, and the rags are receiving funds directly from INEOS, does that not create a link between the rags and state funding?

Don't forget the Battle of the Estadio Metropolitano in the CL, where one team wanted to play football and the other just fight - I think we were only ones to be fined that night.

We’re not state owned. So good luck with your poxy bill. Besides why propose a bill like this and and find lecherous American owners totally normal. The hypocrisy is off the scale. Yet again.

We passed all the fit and proper tests on our takeover in 2008. The last time I looked we were owned by Sheikh Monsieur and not a state.
If you look at what the racist from Brighton has proposed, it's not just being directly state owned. It's also being in a position where you are partially controlled or can be influenced by a state or member of a nation's government.

He might as well just have written down "I don't like them brown people, can we just have white owners please?"

The proposed amendment says owned or controlled and defines as "A state-controlled club is one which is wholly or majority-owned by individual(s), entities, or entities controlled by individual(s) who are deemed by the IFR or the secretary of state to be under the influence of any state actor, including but not limited to: members of any government or their immediate family, a head of state or their immediate family, diplomats, lobbyists, or other state representatives, or their immediate family, and sovereign wealth funds.”

That covers City and Newcastle, of course. No-one else.

The article this comes from, however, does state:
"Whitehall insiders insist the chance of the amendment being agreed is small, but some Premier League clubs have previously urged the government to introduce such a ban."
and
"The bill was debated in the House of Lords on Wednesday but peers have yet to discuss Bassam’s amendment."

The proposal includes family members who are related to those in Government. But I think the Secretary of State would have to prove state influence for someone like Sheikh Mansour who invests billions in other businesses in the UK.

You could've also listed the stuff from that classic 'Not The Nine'o'Clock News' sketch about racist, Fascist policing 40 years ago.. and my, how (almost) prescient were they when writing about the '117 (cf the 115!) charges' laid against 'Mr Winston Kodogo'!!:

'And we have some more here, Constable Savage: 'Walking on the cracks in the pavement,' 'Walking in a loud shirt in a built-up area during the hours of darkness,' and 'Walking around with an offensive wife.' In short, Savage, in the space of one month you have brought one hundred and seventeen ridiculous, trumped-up and ludicrous charges.. against the same man'

Pretty clear one of those clubs put this joker up to it. He is the sort who will do anything for a couple of grand.
