Re: Sam Ricketts taunts Manchester City with a Premier pred.....

TBH, he's just stated a neutrals point of view that even though ManUre haven't played that well, that they're only 2 points behind us and have the experience over us as a club where tight run-ins are concerned which you can't really argue with.

All we can do as a club and as fans is concentrate on us and leave the rest of them to pontificate on where the titles going. A single minded focus on Bolton's league position wouldn't go amiss for Ricketts either, because if I was a Trotters fan I'd be pissed with him being more concerned with anything football related other than Bolton's current plight.

And for the record, I'd like to see all our local teams survive in the Premiership, so after tomorrows match I wish Notlob, Wagon, and Rovers all the best APART from when they play us of course!!!! I don't want to see northern clubs fall by the wayside to be replaced in the Prem by southern based teams. The Northwest needs all the revenue it can get in these austere times..................

The full interview..................

Bolton star Sam Ricketts has tweaked the tiger’s tail ahead of tomorrow’s clash by telling City: “You won’t win the title.” The Wales defender has tipped United to edge out their neighbours in the title race, even though City will go five points clear with a win – while the Reds face a tough trip to Tottenham on Sunday.

The Blues can equal United’s Premier League record of winning 19 consecutive matches and become the first top-flight side since Newcastle in 1906 to win the first 14 league games of the season – and are hot favourites to do so. But Ricketts believes United’s experience will tell in the long run. “Are City favourites for the title? Not for me,” said the full back. “United are still the favourites in my book.

For the last couple of years people have said that United are not that good a side but they keep winning championships. “Everyone has been saying how well City have been playing, even writing United off. But all of a sudden they’re just behind them in the table and they haven’t even hit top form. “United have been there and done it, that’s what gives them a slight edge.” Not that Ricketts was predicting his side would bring City’s amazing run of home form to an end.

His tongue was firmly in cheek as he said: “It should be nice and easy! We’ll just pick up three points there and start moving up the table – no problem.” He added: “They’ve been fantastic. They’ve started to reap the rewards of all the money they’ve spent. I don’t think there’s many harder places to go than the Etihad these days. It’ll be a tough task.”

I'm pretty sure most of the people on this thread haven't read the OP or the actual article, but have just replied with bristling indignation based on the headline. Which is what the MEN wanted, I suspect.

For those who haven't read it...

It's an opinion. That's all. MEN just do what they do best and twist it.
