Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

As soon as rashford scored I knew they would start the comparisons with sterling. True to form they did.
What bugs me though is why is it sterling OR rashford, and not Alli or lingard OR rashford?

Doesn't matter, Sterling can't win now, literally his best bet is to sit it out for the world Cup and let rashford take the shit for England failure

HE must retire from England

Correct. But part of me doesn't want Raheem to start as he will be a scapegoat.
I am in Spain and played golf yesterday with a coxkney red and two spuds fans. They think Huddle is a genius, and believe all the Sun (and otherrs ) shit.
I think Huddle has been key in making it a no win situation for Raheem.

I didn't see Saturday's game.

I just know Rashford was the same Rashford, running blindly & basically failling to do pretty much everything the commentators were praising him for doing.

He had about ten minutes at the start, where everything he did, came off. Then 80 mins of poncing around, misplaced passes & giveaways.

Even one of the 'highlights' they showed to prove their point of how good he was: he beat one bloke, ran into three others & lost the ball with an England player unmarked in the box, next to him. 'Perhaps he should have passed it then ...but'

Fucking 'BUT' ? But he's got Aaaron Lennon's fucking brain ?

If that's Sterling, they use the same clip, to 'prove' why he shouldn't play. It's fucking appaling what is happening. One of our players, is being set up.

Weak mentality? Step forward in his finishing? You’re like all those journalists in that you only remember his misses. Fifth best shot conversion rate last season, 21.5% of his attempts went in. Better than Kane, Firminho, KDB, Silva, Aguero, Sane, Lukaku and Song. If you only count people who got 10 or more, he’s third on the list behind Vardy (just) and Salad. Watch the games, don’t read the newspapers ffs and you might stop spouting such unfounded cack.

There’s no if that’s Sterling about it, that was sterling on Saturday yet everyone got their knickers in a twist because they are determined for Sterling never to have a bad game. The fact is he’s poor for England. He runs down every blind alley going, he loses the ball often, he makes the wrong choices yet because he’s a blue we need to defend him and criticise rashford in the same breath for doing the same thing. Whilst rashford has a goal like that in his locker too. The highest praise for sterling on Saturday was he looked “dangerous” fucking lol. Straw clutching at its best. They both can look dangerous and I don’t think if you started with either it would be the wrong decision.

If you offered Hoddle A: Rasford starts or B: Sterling starts, he'll say he wants 'A' but he is hoping like fuck, it's 'B' then he can ingratiate himself with the viewers, by telling everyone how Rashford should have started, unless there is the unlikely event of England actually playing well.

Then it's how good Harry Kane is.

To be fair,Rashford did well last night,he will scare to death most teams with his pace,does get a bit wayward I must admit,but that performance last night should earn him a start in the first game,at whose expense,only Southgate knows.....but does he ?

I'm more optimistic this time than I have ever been,I'm usually thinking we be shite,but I'm seriously optimistic this time,although our resident Scotch and Irish residents will be hoping different.

Difficult one, we all know Sterling doesn’t get a fair ride in the media, is he set up to fail because of that? Or is it because he’s just had his best season, he’s probably been the best Englishmen this season and that should be carried through to the national team? He shouldn’t be praised for “looking dangerous” Rashford on the other hand hasn’t had a great year, been shackled by his manager yet still looked decent for England. The best thing with Rashford is he is fearless which is refreshing when watching and England game.
