Media persecution of Raheem Sterling

To be fair,Rashford did well last night,he will scare to death most teams with his pace, does get a bit wayward I must admit, but that performance last night should earn him a start in the first game,at whose expense, only Southgate knows.....but does he ?

I'm more optimistic this time than I have ever been,I'm usually thinking we be shite, but I'm seriously optimistic this time, although our resident Scotch and Irish residents will be hoping different.

I have no idea why ten minutes early on v Costa Rica should earn him a start but I don't care either way. Fabien Delph skinned 3 of them just the same, when he moved centrally.

Nobody in the team, had any problems against any of them, in the whole game. Even Jordan Henderson managed to play several forward passes.

Sterling hasn't scored for a while for England, so if Southgate feels the extra pressure being applied to him is likely to make him less likely to score than Rashford, sure, play Rashford.

If it was a Premier League game, without the added persecution, he'd be a fucking dick, to Start Rashford, as Sterling would betwice as likely, to produce something.

But this is England & Sterling is being set up, so grat, play Rashford, or Dany Wellbeck, the original Rashford.

Difficult one, we all know Sterling doesn’t get a fair ride in the media, is he set up to fail because of that? Or is it because he’s just had his best season, he’s probably been the best Englishmen this season and that should be carried through to the national team? He shouldn’t be praised for “looking dangerous” Rashford on the other hand hasn’t had a great year, been shackled by his manager yet still looked decent for England. The best thing with Rashford is he is fearless which is refreshing when watching and England game.

He needs to stay on the right though, or at least not try going past the right back - he cannot cross with his left foot, and that should be left to Rose. Cutting in is ok.
He caught the shot well yesterday.
I do think that some of it is about pairings - who creates space for the no. 10. Vardy does a lot of running in this respect, just as Owen used to praise Heskey for creating space for him. Kane doesn't really stray far from the middle.

He's 'fearless' because he has 100% backing from the media, whenever he plays.

Let's see what happens if he starts, & doesn't actually do anything at all & doesn't have Sterling to cover it up.

There's a distinct possibility of no Sane AND no Sterling starting their World Cup games, who on earth could have imagined that after the season they both just had!

He is fearless because that’s how he plays and has played since he came on the scene. Nothing to do with Sterling

You keep saying sterling is twice as likely to produce something, he doesn’t for England simple as that

Maybe he never will, when all he gets is pressure & doubt.

However, maybe Rashford will because all he gets is praise & encouragement, no matter what he does, good or bad.

Or maybe, he'll be Fearless Aaron Lennon.

This game was against a v poor Costa Rica who just got a 24 hour flight and really couldnt be arsed from what I saw. Rashford also had a good game though tbh (1 good game!) The first thought into pundits heads was "he should replace Sterling". Automatically it is Sterling that has to go and I really dont know why they choose him. fkin annoying

So if your logic is correct even if that’s the reason rashford produces more surely you go with the player that does produce more? Or should blind loyalty mean go with sterling no matter how average he is for England. If I’ve ever questioned him for city people throw stats in your face to argue it, check his England stats out. Fucking awful
