Was listening to 606 and how everybody was surprised at how well England was controlling possession and that their game management was so good after Kane's penalty. It got me thinking. While Southgate has undoubtedly done well, I think Pep has had a big influence on the style of football we play in this country we're now seeing in this England team. It's no surprise all the City lads have been superb. Yet the media can't quite admit it can they ?
It’s had a huge influence and that’s why Southgate turns to 3 of our main players all the time. Same as in the WC where Stones, Walker and Sterling were all first picks with, I think, Fabian Delph from the bench.

All goalkicks from Euro teams, play out from the back now, long gone is the boot upfield by the goalie… wonder where that idea came from…

MARTIN SAMUEL: Compared to the golden generation, Gareth Southgate has gems everywhere... he can throw players at the problem like Chelsea or Man City can throw money. It's scary

NEW MARTIN SAMUEL - CHIEF SPORTSWRITER: The golden generation was, in essence, a golden team. There were no goalscorers in Rooney or Michael Owen's class, the depth just wasn't there.
I rate Samuel but this is a joke. I always think he is fair and balanced so why just these 2 teams ? The biggest culprits are the rags, at least we solve our problems by throwing players at it. They don't.

The Guardian with its normal hatchet job. Where’s the balance in this piece?
It’s customary to at least refer to both sides of the argument but apparently not where City are concerned.
His hypocrisy is astounding, but I blame the people interviewing him and writing it up just as much if not more, I've yet to see anyone in response say " and yet you didn't have a problem when your beloved Spanish rags were getting handouts" !

I wouldn't be surprised if that piece had been heavily editorialised. The days of free thinking journalists being able to essentially print what they want has long gone. Generating clicks is where it's at these days.

I’ve been thinking this myself. Pep and City have had a huge influence on this England team. The way we play, the spirit, the confidence, the players…whilst it would be arrogant to say that’s all it is, it is a significant factor.

So according to his logic should nobody be making huge new signings and paying huge wages.
Every club has lost money due to the Pandemic and some have a huge debt but are still signing players at £75 mil has he questioned this or is it just City in his sights?

No asking about the debt of the Spanish big club or how he can forecast the future for City whilst failing to run his own properly.
I would have thought an article on this by Conn would be meat and drink - but no its City and they disregard their principles and morals for City
