I’ve been thinking this myself. Pep and City have had a huge influence on this England team. The way we play, the spirit, the confidence, the players…whilst it would be arrogant to say that’s all it is, it is a significant factor.

And how many blues like me were thinking FFS when Pickford was kicking it long. In that 2nd half of ET we had a few glimpses of Pep game management play by keeping hold of the ball to see the game out. But you could tell by how many times we gave it away that not everyone was comfortable with that save our blues

Great find that. I hope that in the aftermath of a win there will some gratitude given to Pep for his contribution to the success. It’s his footballing style that’s bought this country together. is it just me….but why are the City pages in the MEN full of negativity! The only one who seems to be pro City is Stewart Brennan. Since the days of Chris Bailey only Stewart has positive comments all the rest revel in telling us our transfer plans are down the pan etc.
just for once it would be brilliant if we broke the bank with a couple of deals. Khaldoon said this window would be disruptive in our rebuilding can’t wait for this to start but back to my original question how satisfied are we with the reporters assigned to bring us genuine news? In the City section of the MEN?

Just off the top of my head, we have:
THE best contemporary popular music and a fantastic record in the modern era.
An open democracy with enormous freedom.
An multi ethic country which is doing quite well at making the changes necessary
Hand pulled beer of astonishing variety and quality.
The best top football league in Europe.
A brilliant one day cricket team
Wimbledon
The best Indian cooking outside Asia
The wonderfully beautiful Yorkshire dales
Great athletes bound for the Olympics.
And so much more.....
Oh they have great bacon in denmark and......er....

You make an interesting point. I know nothing of journalism so I assumed Samuel would write the lot. Maybe as you say he pens the piece but someone else writes that headline, someone who simply wants clicks to attract advertisers. If so that shows how far down the gutter the press have gone that even a Samuel article is not safe

Their headlines are eyeball grabbers and rarely bear more than a minute relationship to their articles.
