I know everybody wants to believe that MS didnt have much say in that column but as the Chief Sports Writer you‘d think he’d have full control of what is written, even if he’s under pressure to get the clicks.
I think that would be the Chief Sports Editor, it's a familiar pattern as many Blues will recognise, even if they deny reading the articles themselves.

Well, I disagree with this:"they have nothing else".
What is this nonsense?
Just off the top of my head, we have:
THE best contemporary popular music and a fantastic record in the modern era.
An open democracy with enormous freedom.
An multi ethic country which is doing quite well at making the changes necessary
Hand pulled beer of astonishing variety and quality.
The best top football league in Europe.
A brilliant one day cricket team
Wimbledon
The best Indian cooking outside Asia
The wonderfully beautiful Yorkshire dales
Great athletes bound for the Olympics.
And so much more.....
Oh they have great bacon in denmark and......er....

Not really relevant to the press remarks quoted, but appalling behavior nevertheless. However, if we tried to improve this with greater discipline in schools, for example, it would be vigorously opposed, not least by parents.
Worth noting that a small fund which was started on line to purchase a small treat for that child grew so big it became a large charity donation at the request of her parents.

I beg to differ on the relevancy as the point I was alluding to is that it is much more difficult to be objective when you're on the inside looking in. What you might think as great, others may not agree with, especially when it comes to nationalism. A number of those points you list could quite easily be challenged by others with a non English centric world view.

Blue Mist. Like you I rate Samuel. I read his article and this action would have given them another click.. so job done And I’m sorry. The main issue for me is the headline which Samuel may not have crafted. It could have been something like ‘England’s squad depth is deeper than it’s been for years’ or ‘Southgate's squad harmony gives England an edge’ or whatever. The point Samuel makes in the article about City and the Chavs is borderline fair but it is a supplementary point.

Sky and Talkshite are a disgrace though. Unfair, sensationalist crap to get a response or to keep viewers. It’s truly pathetic.
Just read it and the reference to City and Chelsea in the article is unnecessary and adds nothing to the article. Like having the price of fish in the article. There is simply no need to mention clubs at all.
I suspect that there has been editorial changes to attract clicks and so my opinion on Samuel as an individual remains favourable.
