You can 100% guarantee that if the decision was the other way around, or if it was united or the scousers who benefited, then the universal reaction would be ‘tough shit’

You don't need much of an imagination to realise that if it'd been a goal against us and Shearer had been in the studio he'd have pulled out his stone-eyes routine and just brushed it off with a "those are the rules, I don't know what all the fuss is about, they need to just deal with it".

I get why it generated a lot of discussion, felt
too much like the same phase of play to me that I’d have been annoyed about it. Ultimately though, that’s the law. That type of scenario really doesn’t happen very often too.

It doesn't happen because, bizarrely, players and clubs don't know the rules.... fucking mind boggling.
I remember years back Messi did the same thing in a chumps league game, came from a mile "offside". I was perplexed as to why it stood, but it was the same ruling. I checked it out at the time.
