I'm not sure how much the 50+1 model is to blame. Bayern hoover up all the best talent making the league uncompetitive. Presumably they have a superior income to most, sponsored by their three principal outside owners. What is the connection from this to the 'fan ownership' rule?
I'd imagine it's difficult to find investors capable of challenging Bayerns superior income when they can only buy 49% of the club

That's a fair point. Perhaps the 50 plus one model is just a sop to make the fans think they have some power. I get the impression that all the power at Bayern is in the hands of the sponsors. To be fair I think that off the field the fans' experience is very good and I have been to many matches in Germany over the years. What I don't understand is how a club like Dortmund, which gets 80,000 crowds every week and almost permanent CL football, seems to be a in a constant financial crisis.

So, even in a skewed survey population, 89% of the few who could be arsed replying didn't think FFP was the major issue.

82% didn't think ownership was the major issue

82% didn't think independent monitoring of sponsorships was a major issue and;

Over 70% didn't think any of the above were the major issue.

In so far as this nonsense proves anything, it proves that this anti-City campaign is nothing more than the psychotic fixation of a small band of lunatic obssessives. But we didn't need a survey to tell us that.

I particularly liked the appreciation for Leicester's Thai ownership?

You know, from a country which murders criminals and kidnaps political opponents, allows a sex trade which traffics kids and paedos...

"Everything you need to know about human rights in Thailand 2020 - Amnesty International Amnesty International" https://www.amnesty.org/en/location...sia-and-the-pacific/thailand/report-thailand/

They could have at least mentioned they were fined under FFP...

The 50+1 model is a bit of a myth. The fans don't really own it because they can't sell it. They do have control of legacy matters, name, colours, stadium etc. but they cant really affect the business model or major strategies. Not sure, do they get to set max ticket prices, for instance? Might explain Dortmund finances to a degree.

The only people who want Liverpool to win their 2nd PL title are Liverpool fans and the Liverpool loving football media.

Let's be honest, City aren't liked anymore, but given the choice of City or Liverpool winning the PL title, the vast majority of football fans who don't support either club would rather have City win the title, especially Everton, United, and Chelsea fans.

But ask any of these deluded and biased Journalist like Sweeney & Co, and they will tell you every football who fan doesn't support either club wants Liverpool to win the title. The scary thing is, they actually believe that.

"Mechanism to encourage German style 50+1 ownership..." Could they make it any more vague ? What the fuck does that mean in the real world.
10,700 responses !! Hardly a tidal wave of public opinion.
Try telling that one to RB Leipzig who have around 30 ‘members’. I’ll bet that all of them are connected to Red Bull.

They never say how we will get 50+1 either. Newcastle, the last club to be sold cost 300 million. 51% of that is 151 (ish) mill. How do normal Geordies find that kind of money plus....
Who is going to then stump up the rest and then be a minority owner. Can you imagine the problems buying Haaland. 51% of the club want him but 25% are only willing to pay him 100k per week, 25% will pay him any amount and 1% were on holiday and forgot to do a postal vote.
That's exactly what I mean by "vague". How do you get from zero to 51% fan ownership ? Does it go " Please Mr Billionaire Majority Shareholder - will you and your shareholders kindly sell your stake in the club to a fan consortium for a peppercorn amount, all for the good of football ?"
It's fantasy world bollocks of the highest order and wide open to corruption and malpractice. It would take a veritable army of administrators to oversee and run going forward.

I read today the journalist Ian McGarry had died in the last 24 hours, at the age of 53 I think.
He wasn’t someone who I very often recall talking positively about City at all - infact he may have had affiliation to Chelsea though I may be misremembering, as it’s been a long while since the Sunday Supp days.
Regardless of all of the above though, that’s no age to live to, and condolences to his family.
