Have to agree if the margins are that fine it's no way a clear and obvious error.
Yep, Swarbrick the ex ref who was supposed to be the Var supremo stated they would re ref on field decisions. Turned out bollocks, Dippers previous match against Watford, corner, no one appealed, ref saw nothing, Dipper player was no where near the ball but Var told the ref to look at the screen, penalty, not re reffed then Swarbrick?

The VAR cameras operate at 50 frames per second with a margin of error of 13cms. This means that the decision on when the ball is played is never 100 per cent accurate and never will be. Freezing the frame at the point when the ball is played is a manual process. It is ridiculous to say anyone is offside or onside by less than 13 cms. This also means the Gabriel Jesus goal might have been ruled out by a different VAR operator. It is an absurd process and the broadcasters are complicit in duping the fans.
This is not a fair system but it is not just City that are suffering from it. The referees decison should be final unless it is a clear and obvious error but the Sterling goal would never have been ruled out with the naked eye. When Carragher inisisted: "It is offside" he was talking bollocks because the process and technology is not good enough to prove that 100 per cent.
The difference in the position of the players from one frame to the next can be over 20cm if they are running at full tilt, so rolling the footage forward or back just a single frame can show a player on or offside by a huge margin.

Spot on mate.

They witter on endlessly about the CL - which is without doubt a huge achievement - but the reality is an English team has won the competition on 14 occasions since 1955.

It’s good - but it’s far from unique.

No team has ever won the domestic treble apart from City. Ever. Not Ferguson, not Busby, not Shankly, not Paisley and not Mourinho. Just Guardiola.

It’s completely unique.

Yet Guardiola gets no credit whatsoever for doing it.

And the reason can only be that it would require the fully paid up, Americanised UK media constantly pushing the US-owners agenda to admit that City did something none of their Clubs could manage - even through their greatest eras. Never going to happen.

So one of the greatest achievements in English football history barely gets a mention.

That tells you everything you need to know about football reporting in this country.
Very true , they constantly say money doesn’t automatically equal success for every other team, but for us they say not winning everything including the grand national and the boat race is a catastrophic failure for the money we have spent.

Spot-on. We have ended up with a situation where people in a remote building are searching for reasons to rule out goals. The previous system gave the benefit of the doubt to attacking players if they looked level and it was more about the position of the feet than any other part of the body. It has to change and take account of the margin of error. Perhaps we should just say you can't give offsides if it is less than 13cms. The system is working against the spirit of the game and the fans are being cheated.
