For balance - and both the author and the conduit have taken some often well deserved stick on here - but Glenn Hoddle has written an interesting piece on the BBC today comparing the rise of the likes of Phil, Kev and Jack to how playmakers like himself were often treated with suspicion back in the day. He is shilling his new book but an interesting read nonetheless, especially when talking about Grealish

Rise of the playmaker - Glenn Hoddle on why the future is Phil Foden for England

thats a good read, how many times did you hear luxury player.

True. Worth pointing out too that it is ard to imagine Herbert was actually covering Coroner's Court.
More likely, a local paper's report was picked up on and rather than let it run verbatim, Herbert went out of his way to get in on it and add his own twist.
It's a bit pedantic to mention but to enjoy "absolute privilege" (ie protection from legal action) an inquest report has to be "fair and accurate." Fair means you have to provide balance and context and ensure that both sides of any story are reflected in the report. The BBC coverage is certainly very selective and seems to be twisted to present City in a negative light. If it is the case that City set-up nine trials at other clubs for the youngster (as has been claimed on here) then it would be fundamentally dishonest to omit this information.

Glen Hoddle seems very bitter. I saw him play many times. He was talented but had a lot more poor matches than good ones and is one of the laziest players I have ever seen. Foden and Grealish both work much harder. Before they got older both Messi and Ronaldo worked much harder. Hoddle underachieved during his career and it was his own fault. He is right that English football was generally dour and defensive in the 80s and the level of coaching (as it still is with many English coaches) was truly terrible.

The Mail discussing the PL's temporary ban on Newcastle getting sponsorship from Saudi companies.

"The Premier League have set up a working party to bring in new rules to ensure that any related-party sponsorships, such as Manchester City's naming-rights and shirt deals with Etihad Airways, must be set at a fair market value"

Apart from the obvious, covered on here many, many times, it's worded to be a bit ambiguous but it's all part of the drip, drip.

You say 'as has been claimed on here'.
That is a very strange comment to make as I assume you have read the posts that make that statement.
It was stated at the inquest and reported by the Daily Telegraph (not by the bbc in their original report but later amended) The family refused the offer stating they thought it better he got an education.

I complained to the BBC about Roan writing similar and got the usual fob off

I only saw the original report on BBC so wasn't aware what was in the Telegraph.

Not a fan of Cliff Richard, never my cup of tea. But the way he was hung out to dry over baseless abuse allegations is truly vile. A source in the local police leaked news of Cliff's arrest so smarmy reporter Dan Johnson could be there as it happened. With the news helicopter filming live.

Don't think Cliff ever received any apology certainly not from that shithousing reporter, who also tipped off the scum newspaper.

Johnson's actions were not criticized on any way, it raised his profile. They tried making him an international correspondent which failed due to him not having basic journo skills. Last seen at the taxpayers expense reporting from Tenerife on the volcano.

Not one for wishing geological disaster on anyone but in Johnson's case if he was disintegrated by a pyroclastic flow .....

Funny how some of the worst beeb journos are called Dan!

Johnson is just one example of their scumbag culture, but they literally are talkshite with pictures.
If only he tripped
