Eddy's was inconclusive so Dermot says VAR was right to go with the on field Ref.
Stephen Warnock and Sue Smith agreed to an extent but both said they would of given the pen.

Salty scouse tears just never seem to stop once they start.

Spot on mate - the BT coverage of the Arsenal game was a case in point.

A bunch of witless, partisan hacks and former players grasping at the simplest interpretation of the game which has just unfolded in front of them - corrupt refereeing decisions as the sole reason for the good guys not winning the day, so let’s all boo at the big bad wolf - when there were actually some fascinating storylines to the game.

How was it Arsenal managed to disrupt City’s passing game so effectively in the first half, and how did they overcome our press so effectively to nullify our tactics and force our tired legs to do all the running when most teams struggle to do the same?

What did we tweak at the start of the second half to counter Arsenal’s game plan that frustrated them so much, prompting them into the characteristic burst of self-destructive indiscipline we knew they would be susceptible to?

How did bringing Gundogan on for Jesus improve our attacking shape in response to them going down to 10 men, allowing us to take control of the game and ultimately win it at the end?

Or if you insist on focusing on the refereeing decisions, why was the Ederson/Odegaard incident different from the Silva/Xhaka one based on the explicit rules around VAR, meaning whilst both were open to interpretation - one was referred while the other wasn’t.

Nah - fuck it. The Ref was bent and City are cheats. That’s why we won and Arsenal lost. Nothing more to see here.
Absolutely spot on mate. These hacks seem to know f*ck all about tactics, formation tweaks or the recovery process and concentrate on how they can slam VAR and the referee and generally ignore protocol if it doesn’t suit there narrative.

Social Media for these people it seems has just served to totally destroy any objectivity, impartiality they may have once had and has generally reduced them into glorified propagandists for their chosen team or teams.

For years the right teams were winning and everything was how it should be. Something tells me that’s not really been the case for a while.

Dermot Gallagher said you can't send off a player in a high profile match unless there is no other alternative .... WTF..... So the bar is higher for higher profile teams?????
I'd like to know who told him this. Was it Riley? Or another official? If so, then it is a deliberate attempt to manipulate games for commercial reasons, and can have far reaching consequences.

If Mane's reprieve yesterday was due to some sort of enforced leniency, then Mane skips a three match ban. He has already scored against Chelsea when he should have been dismissed. What if he scores in his next three games? What if Liverpool win by a single Mane goal? What if the defeated team gets relegated as a consequence of that goal?

Gallagher is right though. You can't send a player off in a high profile game unless there is no other alternative. He should have added "or any game". The law is clear, and in the Mane case, there was no alternative. It was serious foul play, so should have been a sending off. If Taylor didn't see it as serious foul play, VAR should have asked him to take a second look, as it was a clear error of judgement by Taylor.

Never thought I'd agree with Danny Murphy...

Also, didn't Van Persie celebrate in front of us for Arsenal once? Maybe the Adebayor game even

Yes he did, giving us 2 fingers at the same time. Never mentioned in the discussion about Adebayor's celebration. Which he was booked for. That despite the FA deciding to punish him further for the celebration. When told that they couldn't give an additional punishment once punished the got that paragon of all that is honest Claternburg to change his report to say the yellow was for wasting time. Which was ridiculous as Ade had sprinted straight back into our half to celebrate in front of the away fans who had given him stick all game.

Fantastic post and spot on. If bt are trolling our forum you’ll probably get a job offer, not sure whether that’s a good or a bad thing lol.

He is simply saying what I said. The product is damaged if you send a player off in a televised game.
Sky don't like it as it spoils their global product. If Mane had gone after 6 seconds (as he should have) where is the 4 goal, end to end thriller ?
It becomes more likely wrestling every week.

Wouldn't his theoretical 3 game ban be spent by the time he gets back from AFCON anyway? Would it have applied to AFCON games thinking about it or is it just domestic?

He should have been red carded all day and every day for that of course.

Simon Jordan couldn’t care less about Rodri’s celebration, his problem is Manchester City FC and he’s hated us for years. Let’s not forget this is the same man that said City are “ruining football”.

It would have been a 3 game ban in domestic competitions. This would be moot as the ban would cover the next 3 domestic games the dippers play and he's off to Afcon.

It’s quite depressing to see the attitude of the popular media to our success.
There‘s a wide streak of fear and hate of success in this country and instead of celebrating the great strides that this club has made which benefit the whole ‘product’ of the PL, they have to sneer and knock.
We are a threat to competition because we are as good as others want to be themselves, but why bother to improve when you can just whinge about unfairness?
They don’t seem to mind how good young Phil is in an England shirt.

Given City have forensically demonstrated (via CAS) that they abide by FFP rules, and are subject to the same squad size limits as the rest of the P.L. I fail to see any sensible argument to support the notion of unfair advantage. If only the numerous erudite geniuses earning a living as sports journalists stopped to consider, the obvious reasons City are doing so well might then become apparent.
To help them in this quest, should they decide to embark on it, here are some hints:
1. A dedicated professional 100% committed to the cause manager.
2. The insistence by that manager on the same commitment from players and staff.
3. A successful transfer policy and patience, where necessary, with players as they adapt to his style
4. No player ever becoming bigger than the club.

It would make more interesting reading if these journalists, instead of pushing constant negativity about City, were to question why, despite spending not dissimilar and sometimes greater amounts on their squads, certain other clubs have fallen so far adrift.
It is lazy and at times irresponsible “journalism” to seek to attribute City’s success to cheating, financial doping etc. etc.
Compare 2012- 2016 with 2017 to date and the Pep influence jumps out as the principal reason. As many have said on here, we all realise this current period of so called dominance will likely end when Pep leaves.
In the meantime Arse, u****d, l*******l could do worse than try to emulate the City model instead of whinging about how unfair it all is.

In any case the pundits are so often laughably wrong, hypocritical and inconsistent I’d worry if they suddenly start praising City.

The above is a long winded way of telling them to f*** off.

The coverage on Amazon prime is much more intelligent. BT has been embarrassing since it started. It is shocking to listen to people like McManaman. He played at the highest level but has no awareness of the tactical side of football. Mind you he was a very one-dimensional player.

I've listened to 3 pods with more to follow at some point.

1. Guardian with Ronay, Brewin and Glendenning
Critical of BT
Ref/ VAR decisions right
Arsenal great but critical of professionalism, losing heads, Xhaka and Gabriel stupidity
Mane was a red card.
City a relentless winning machine

3-0 on all.

2. Totally Football with Storey, Bardell and Sasha someone( liverpool fan who actually posts on RAWK)

Critical of BT
Ref/ VAR decisions right
Arsenal great but critical of professionalism, losing heads, Xhaka and Gabriel stupidity
Mane was a red card.
City a relentless winning machine

3-0 on all except the Liverpool fan on the ref/VAR

3. Times - Alyson Rudd and a couple of others

Ref/ VAR decisions right
Arsenal great but critical of professionalism, losing heads, Xhaka and Gabriel stupidity
City a relentless winning machine

3-0 on all except Liverpool fan Rudd on the ref/Var who was talking so much bollocks and no understanding of how VAR works.

Overall not too bad and the criticism of BT pleasing and also as predicted by Ahsan on 93:20.

Alyson Rudd cannot possibly be as stupid as she comes across , can she ?

If so, it just proves what a genuine dipper supporter she is,

This is all after the event and overwhelming evidence in favour of officials/City. They were not prepared to give us the benefit of doubt or view it neutrally at the relevant time. The Arsenal players whining, the fcuk would Ramsdale have seen from his box to plead his side hardship and injustice. Media should tackle that first.
