No mention of sportswashing of England this weekend? Is that just an Arab and Russian thing then?

There is an ethical dimension to Liverpool v Manchester city and that's not to let racists in the media win. The media supports players taking the knee in one breath, and then in the next they claim that Arab capital is inherently dirty because it's country's of domicile are not liberal democracies. Why are they not liberal democracies, or are they too stupid to answer that? Is it simply a coincidence that a whole region / continent is run by evil despots?

Yeah, but no mention that their history-breaking crowd of 21k was 10k adrift of the first derby at The Etihad when CW thumped one in.
That's not important obviously.
Do you know why this particular match was played at the Swamp. With free admission and school kids being bussed in it seems they might have have played a more interesting team than Everton for such a historical occasion.

it never fucking end. That weasel Simon Stone manages to shoe horn “artificial and state funding and Manchester City” funny the **** spends so much time brown nosing at Old Trafford you would think he knows all about the state funded Saudi Telecom deal that’s been worth hundreds of millions over the past dozen years. Twat.

Big nosed twat, him not you.

The hypocrisy is planned and part of an agenda. The west decided Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya to name but a few, needed a Western style democracy, which they knew would be completely unworkable.
cue, mayhem, humanitarian disasters and a steep rise in terrorism.
all this ethical shit is just that, it doesn’t stand up to even a veneer of scrutiny. This is about Manchester City stopping the American Vulture Capitalists making bigger sums. Newcastle may turn out the same. They can’t come out and say that of course.

I don't think the journalists involved are being manipulated by American owners. City also have Silverlake onboard. I think these journalists know that the Arab regimes are unpopular in the West and they use that to push a narrative that sells well into Liverpool and Man Utd fans. But it exploits racism and ignores the geopolitical relationship between the West and the Arab world. "We need to control and shape these ex-colonies because they are not capable or willing to organise themselves and if they don't reform we'll simply sanction them or kick them out."

tbh I don't know of any registered legitimate business in any other market place, where investment and success is seen as a negative.
The current fashion is to pick out stuff that is not to your liking and castigate it for being immoral in some way.
Thus City, but others too get criticised in a ludicrous way.
The oil companies produce a vital product, but, oh, they are the big bad wolf. Supermarkets have ruined the high street, apparently. Amazon have killed off bookshops (who charge twice as much). Computers (supporting automation) have taken away people's jobs. NO they haven't. I expect busses got it in the neck for displacing horse drawn trams. The more journos are after clicks, the worse it will become.

He was a very good researcher it has to be said, they certainly did not like Rabin at all lol
They put it about that Rabin is a paid shill, in cahoots with City. This makes no sense at all. City are non-litigious and just let the crap roll off their back. Why would they then pay someone like Rabin to point out the flaws in what they write? The journos just accuse him to excuse their own lies and justify the idea that City fans have been weaponised against the press.

It’s clear an ‘independent regulator’ is in the works. What I don’t understand, is how they can get one in place when the clubs who own the Premier League & will need to vote on it in order for it to happen, are all opposed?

Lastly, if Harris et al think a regulator is going to come on board and simply remove football owners they don’t like, and their business models, they are going to be deeply disappointed.
They are hoping for legislation to impose the regulator.

They never say how we will get 50+1 either. Newcastle, the last club to be sold cost 300 million. 51% of that is 151 (ish) mill. How do normal Geordies find that kind of money plus....
Who is going to then stump up the rest and then be a minority owner. Can you imagine the problems buying Haaland. 51% of the club want him but 25% are only willing to pay him 100k per week, 25% will pay him any amount and 1% were on holiday and forgot to do a postal vote.
Shares won't be sold to facilitate 50+1. A golden share is the more likely route. "Ownership" is a misnomer, the fan owners have a very limited brief, mainly about legacy matters.

Probably the only way it happens, but in any event, any legislation would be to address things moving forward not retrospectively.

Unless the government want a legal minefield against their key allies in the Middle East for targeting assets owned by individuals from these states. Don’t see it myself.

It seems to me that UEFA just don’t want Middle East owned clubs to be successful.

They also want to keep certain clubs involved in their flagship competition. Sixth place could get a CL place, but only for certain clubs? Are they for real? Fucking farcical.

It‘s all bullshit, they may as well just have their own little cartel history clubs playing each other in a league by invite only.

it’s an interesting read, it basically lists exact why they are similar then provides a very sketchy straw man to show they’re not

I'm sure Nick will pull that piece of analysis out and give it the depth of exploration it deserves.......

People forget, if they get relegated back to the EFL they start with a points deduction as they breached FFP to go up.....
Would they really start with a deduction? Sweet. Probably won't go down though. Pity.

*btw, “Vision 2030“ is a Saudi programme looking to diversify away from a purely Oil producing nation, the one our mates in Trafford are 100% signed up to.

Had a interesting chat with a Geordie mate of mine out here for a few months. He asked me did I ever read the Mail on line to which i replied yes everyday( don’t pay subs though). He told me that he read the Oliver Holt and Ian Ladyman articles on Sunday then said he couldn’t believe the comments section and the hate filled bile against City and that most were based darn south. I told him this is nothing new it’s been going on since our takeover 2008. I said wait till the toon get their act together and perhaps win a trophy or two because the pile on will be off the scale.
