Would Liew be writing an article like that if Haaland was scoring goals for Liverpool, United or Arsenal?

He’s not a football fan, as in the real meaning of it, he’s like a lot of the new ones who have jumped on the back of it to earn a living. That means it’s all about the clicks and deep down each of these type knows that there will be a changeover point where their narrative will have to change.

It won’t be obvious as the likes of Haaland allows them to give credit as he’s the new face of football. Nobody can battle against the epitome of an old style striker as, in this new world of football, every real football fan absolutely loves the front man. He’s the best person in any team and if he’s the best player in the best league, he has to get the plaudits with the best in the world.

That‘s why he gets all the superlatives from those who report live, they have no option on his current form. However, those who like revisionism, ie., those who have to write after the fact, have chance to change the story.

But, not for long.

So when we put teams to the sword and put 5 or 6 past them that’s boring, and when we grind out a 0-0 away from home against a team that conceded 70% possession and spent long periods defending with 20 men behind the ball, that‘s boring too.

No inconsistency there, then.
